Amy has taught English for more than 20 years in a variety of schools in Australia, Scotland and England, including roles in senior leadership, leading Teaching and Learning and as Lead Practitioner for Disciplinary Literacy. Her experiences as a teacher and senior leader have encouraged her belief that the purpose of education is to instil curiosity and a love of learning, seeing this aspect of teaching as the most rewarding part of being in the classroom.Amy’s broad experience makes her highly qualified to lead and deliver the i2i trainees’ professional and pedagogical curriculum and support the team of Subject Lead Mentors. Amy feels privileged to be able to utilise her experiences to shape and empower the next generation of teachers, embracing the moments when trainees’ curiosity is piqued so they are not only learning but questioning and debating academic research. Amy believes that supporting trainees to grow in confidence and achieve their potential allows her to give back to the educational community and create a legacy of ongoing excellence as these trainees become the next leaders of our profession.Thank you Amy for working tirelessly to develop our teachers of the future! And what a great song choice too!!

Wonderful to see our Basingstoke cohort of trainees celebrating their last central training session this week. We will hugely miss them but are so proud of how far they’ve come.

We can’t wait to acknowledge their efforts this year at their graduation, not long now!!

What a lovely post for teachers everywhere❤️

For the teachers that make us ✨💫 A special one for teachers appreciation week, I wouldn’t be who I am today without my Art teacher, in all honesty, I don’t think I’d still be standing if it weren’t for her.

So this one’s for each and every teacher out there, thank you for all that you do. For believing in us before we have the courage to believe in ourselves xx

Most of us had a favourite teacher at school. For me it was my economics teacher, Mr Brewer. On the whole Mr Brewer was a fairly quiet person until he started talking about economics! He would then come alive and his enthusiasm for the subject was not only contagious, it totally endeared him to the rest of the us in the class.

There’s no one way to be a great teacher. Inspiring teachers are not just an expert in their subject—they’re a mentor, a motivator, and a role model. They encourage curiosity, build confidence, and make learning exciting. 🎓✨

Great teachers:
✅ Listen & Understand – They see every student as an individual.
✅ Encourage & Empower – They lift students up, even on tough days.
✅ Bring Passion & Energy – Their enthusiasm is contagious!
✅ Adapt & Innovate – They make learning engaging and relevant.
✅ Believe in Their Students – Even when students doubt themselves.

We’d love to find out who was the teacher that made a difference to you and what made them so great. Let us know in the comments 💙

As a teacher, your voice is one of your most powerful tools. It commands attention, builds connections, and brings lessons to life. From setting the tone of your classroom to inspiring young minds, how you use your voice can make all the difference.

Our trainees have been learning about their own “teacher voice” and also practiced voice projection and breathing. Key insights included:

✅ Vary your tone to keep students engaged
✅ Use pauses for impact and clarity
✅ Speak with confidence to foster respect
✅ Show warmth to create a positive learning space

Great teaching isn’t just about what you say—it’s about how you say it. 🎓✨
