Some of our summer magic… outdoor adventures, water play in the heat, extra shade, messy play, number hunts (we work hard to ensure numbers are all around us in our play!) baking learning to weigh ingredients and use a variety of tools and equipment and searching with our magnifying glasses looking at different textures! We now look ahead to Autumn with excitement!

We include Maths within our planning across the nursery and everyday activities. From singing number nursery rhymes, counting our friends when we line up, comparing, sorting, using language such as ‘big, small, more, less, empty’ and making links to every day life and activities incorporating Maths within this. We are committed to ensuring Maths is a theme through our curriculum.

We’ve recentlyenjoyed exploring and getting a little bit messy too! Counting our finger prints and animal foot prints along the way to support our number recognition. We have been naming colours during play, sorting and stacking! We’ve created some magical ‘cakes’ using our pre writing muscles to roll and mould the dough.

Loose parts, outdoor spaces and cosy dens! We are always updating our provision, ensuring our children are always excited to learn and explore. We are also ensuring our environment is rich in numbers, text and print too!

We plan around our children’s interests and abilities, ensuring we create suitable next steps that support progress. We provide a variety of continuous provision across our week to ensure we have engaging and exciting learning opportunities available at all times. This means even when ‘at play’ our children are learning too! Maybe it’s counting and sorting, negotiating sharing skills and turn taking, working as a team, mark making and building our fine mort muscles as we go or just having fun! Just a few little snaps of nursery life. We hope you have a peaceful weekend and see you next week. February is nearly here. Brighter days!

We’ve enjoyed exploring our tuff trays this week! Using all of our senses, learning about animals and nature aswell as using our Maths skills (counting, sorting, quantities and shape recognition) All of this during our play! We plan our activities based on children’s interests and next steps. Our curriculum places focus on each child’s individual development and we are always able to evidence what we are doing and why. 🦔🪴🍄

Our Autumnal themed activities have been in full swing. Exploring, playing, learning, listening… we have had a wonderful month. We’ve built upon our Curiosity Approach inspired continuous provision too which means lots more enjoyment and opportunities to explore for our little ones! Our open-ended resources spark curiosity and imagination, inspiring children to explore, experiment, and create their own learning journeys through play.
