Please can we kindly ask that you clearly write or label your son/daughter’s full name on all their school clothing, including school bags, pencil cases and PE clothing/shoes/trainers. If an item is lost but named we can very easily identify the item and return it to your child.
Any lost property that is not claimed by the end of each term will be displayed in the school hall for pupils to come to look at and identify. Any items not claimed thereafter will be given to charity. We will inform all pupils of the date the items will be displayed in the hall. For this half-term the items will be displayed in the main hall for pupils only at lunch time on Thursday 22 October.

Halloween spirit was everywhere across our school clubs last week. At Space to Grow, our students sculpted and customized their own clay ghosts. Over at Poetry Club, 15 young writers composed festive, spooky poetry. Don't forget that our KS3 Pumpkin Carving Competition is underway, and students can submit photos of their lit-up pumpkin carvings via Google Classroom.

Delicious developments in Hospitality and Catering this week!

Our Year 11 students tackled delicate Tuiles for the first time, creating high-skill decorations for their dishes. Naturally, a few delicate bakes broke along the way, which obviously needed to be eaten for quality control! leading to some fantastic final attempts. Meanwhile, Year 9 mastered the art of fresh homemade ravioli, working remarkably hard and demonstrating great patience to bring their delicious creations together.

Huge congratulations to all of our budding chefs! 👏

YEAR 11 ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY MOCKS

Good luck to all Year 11 GCSE Art and Photography students participating in their practical mock examinations.

Photography mock sessions take place tomorrow, on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th October, followed by Art mocks on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th October. These sessions simulate real exam conditions and offer valuable practice for final portfolio assessments.

A few highlights from yesterday as our Year 7 students spent the day at Avon Tyrrell taking part in a range of outdoor team-building activities.

The students challenged themselves across a variety of practical tasks, including high ropes, problem solving and raft building. It was an excellent opportunity for them to develop confidence, build friendships, and work together as a team outside the classroom environment.

We will have some more photos and videos for you soon, as another group are currently there today.

Well done to all of Year 7 for their enthusiasm, positive attitude, and exemplary behaviour throughout the visit (including Mr wallace who got his feet wet on the raft!!)

Year 11 Chemistry students Harry and Maria carried out a fractional distillation demonstration alongside Mr Kemp today.

Well done to both students for their focus and hard work during the practical session.

A reminder for parents and carers of Year 6 students that applications for secondary school places for September 2027 entry must be submitted by 31 October.

Families are strongly encouraged to complete and submit their applications through their local authority as soon as possible, rather than waiting until the deadline. Submitting on time helps avoid unnecessary stress and ensures your application is processed as intended.

If you require any support or advice regarding the application process, please contact your local authority’s admissions team directly.

A reminder for families of students attending the upcoming trip to Avon Tyrrell. Students must arrive between 7:30 am and 7:45 am, meeting in their tutor groups on the Betjeman playground outside the sports hall for registration. Mobile phones must be placed into pouches upon arrival, where they will remain secure until the return journey home.

As students will spend the majority of the day outside taking part in activities such as raft building, orienteering, pioneering, problem solving, and high ropes, they should wear comfortable clothing and sensible shoes that you do not mind getting wet or dirty. It is expected to be cold and wet, so warm layers are essential. Changing facilities are available on site, and bringing a full change of clothes is strongly advised, particularly for those taking part in raft building.

Please ensure your child brings a packed lunch along with plenty to drink, as there are no catering facilities on site to purchase food. Finally, if your child has been prescribed an inhaler or EpiPen, please ensure they have it with them before leaving home. Thank you for your support in helping prepare for a safe and enjoyable trip.
