Situated in beautiful grounds which never cease to surprise visitors for their serenity and size, Dair House School founded in 1932, allows boys and girls from Nursery to Year 6 to develop their full potential, feeling supported and important. As our children grow up, we encourage them to assume more community based responsibilities through such roles as Playground Buddies and Class Helpers. In th

Our Year 6 leavers have enjoyed fantastic successes in the Buckinghamshire and Slough 11+ assessments and have also passed to a wide range of senior independent schools in the area. We provide our children with an outstanding range of extra-curricular activities as well as musical, sporting, theatrical and artistic challenges. Our close relationship with parents, both present and past ensures that the long-held values of the school such as kindness and good manners remain central to our ethos. Last week, Year 5 tucked into their very first Book Tasting šŸ“–āœØ

They were served four different ā€˜coursesā€™ of books, with ten minutes to sample each one and decide whether it was to their taste. As they read, they jotted down any wonderful words and phrases they discovered on their ā€˜dinner platesā€™ and recorded the titles of books they would like to continue reading on their ā€˜napkinsā€™.

Everyone threw themselves into the experience and were wonderfully engaged throughout. By the end, there were plenty of requests to borrow some of the books they had sampled! It was a lovely way to discover some new authors and stories and, hopefully, find a few new favourite reads along the way.
