Caldicott is a thriving day and boarding country prep school for boys aged 7 – 13 in South Buckinghamshire. We pride ourselves on our warm community where our pupils are happy and feel valued. Situated in 40 acres of magnificent grounds, we are located just 15 miles from Heathrow Airport and 30 minutes from West London. We operate a daily return bus service from Chiswick, Brook Green, Notting Hill

Our Deputy Head (Pastoral), Sarah Bisschop, often reminds the boys to be “competitive, but kind.”

It is a simple phrase, but one that perfectly captures the spirit of our school. We want Caldicott boys to be ambitious, embrace challenge, and strive for excellence in everything they do. But we also believe that achievement means little without character.

That is why kindness, compassion, and empathy sit at the heart of our pastoral programme. Through the Weekly Wellbeing Survey, Art Therapy, Citizenship Awards, a new Digital Wellbeing programme, or the Rock Awards which recognise boys who quietly live out our values, we help every boy to grow into a confident, compassionate, and thoughtful young man.

Parents and Senior School colleagues often tell us there’s something special about Caldicott boys. It’s difficult to define exactly what that magic ingredient is which helps them to leave such a positive impression, but it’s certainly in no small part thanks to the “competitive, but kind” mantra which underpins everything we do.

📚 Inside and outside the classroom, a love of learning is being nurtured with curiosity, challenge, and enrichment driving exceptional outcomes. 2026 leavers earned 14 scholarships (including two King’s Scholarships to Eton and Academic Scholarships to St Paul’s, Wi******er, and Brighton) and progressed to 15 different top Senior Schools. 53% of the results at Common Entrance were A* or A grades, with every boy progressing to his chosen Senior School.

🏉 Sport has long been at the heart of Caldicott, and our 40 acres of grounds are utilised as much as possible across school life. Whether representing the school on the pitch, striving for personal improvement or developing teamwork and resilience, boys benefit from a programme that inspires participation and excellence. The National Schools 10s in March saw 20 U13 teams from across the world come to Caldicott to compete, while our signature internal competitions provide an inclusive platform for all boys to compete (complemented by live commentary, pyrotechnics, and always a few surprises!).

🎭🎨🎵 From the school’s colourful umbrella installation to a cantata performance involving half the school accompanied by a 25-piece orchestra, to stage productions such as ‘The Addams Family’, creativity continues to flourish at Caldicott. Two boys earned Music Awards to Eton College this year and three boys earned Drama Awards to their respective schools. Every boy had the opportunity to take part in concerts, recitals, LAMDA performances, productions and more. Technical roles mean boys can get involved without being on the stage, building confidence, teamwork, and self-expression along the way.

⭐ Two more academic awards secured by Year 8 boys ⭐

JS earned an Academic Exhibition to Wi******er College after three challenging days of exams and interviews. Testing his critical thinking in unique ways, including identifying a Latin book without touching it, he rose to the occasion brilliantly. He credits the support of his teachers and plenty of third prep (as evening prep is colloquially called) for helping him succeed, and is excited for the wide-ranging opportunities ahead.

EY was awarded an Academic Scholarship to Brighton College, a fantastic achievement announced in front of his classmates. He worked hard throughout the process, finding English the toughest, and made the most of boarding life and third prep to prepare. EY is looking forward to the next chapter, while acknowledging he will miss his teachers a lot.

From first-time performers to brother sharing the stage with duologues, we were delighted to a brilliant celebration of Drama earlier this term in the House Drama Final. 168 boys entered this year’s competition with the Year 3 and 4 competition still to come after half term.

We were delighted to welcome Gaynor Jervis, Director of Drama .school, as our adjudicator, whose expertise and insightful feedback made the evening even more special. A big well done also to HH for hosting with such professionalism and charm.

Staff Spotlight Series: Meet Mr Tinkler, Head of Science 🧬

He started at Caldicott two years ago, joining as Head of Science and as a senior tutor. Before Caldicott, he worked at Cargilfield School in Edinburgh as Head of Science and Head of Outdoor Adventure.

We asked Mr Tinkler what he loves about his subject, teaching as a whole, and what makes Caldicott special!

An incredible achievement from our Headmaster, Mr Banks, who conquered the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon and raised over £18,000 for . 💛

Running in memory of Caldicott parent Neil Danzinger, and overcoming injury, winter training and a tough final stretch, Mr Banks showed true resilience and his advice for anyone attempting this feat in the future was simple: “respect it, and enjoy it.” 🏃🏻

With the support of family, friends and the Caldicott community every step of the way, he pushed through the wall at 18 miles to finish within his goal time. Thanks to the incredible support from the community, he was among the top 50 fundraisers at the event. 👏

Mr Banks really embodied the schools values we tell the boys about so often: perseverance, integrity, courage, compassion, and humour. 🌟

✨ Congratulations to SZ and LT (Y8) on earning King’s Scholarships to Eton College! ✨

With only approximately 14 of these scholarships awarded each year, this is an incredible achievement. After months of hard work and preparation, both boys impressed in their exams and showed true dedication and resilience. From being celebrated in the Headmaster’s Study to a surprise round of applause from their teachers, it’s a moment they’ll never forget.

SZ and LT have expressed heartfelt thanks to their teachers and families for their support. While they’ll miss Caldicott, they are excited to embrace the opportunities ahead .college.

We are so proud of everything they’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see them shine in the next chapter.

With longer days, warmer weather, and exams on the horizon, this time of year brings both energy and pressure for many boys. At Caldicott, we continue to emphasise the importance of lifelong learning – developing not only knowledge, but the curiosity, resilience, and habits that will support your son far beyond his time with us.

At the heart of our approach is a simple but powerful idea: meaningful learning happens through challenge. When pupils are encouraged to think deeply, grapple with new concepts, and occasionally struggle, they develop resilience, independence, and a stronger understanding of the material. This is something psychologists often refer to as “desirable difficulty.”

As always, we value the partnership between school and home. You can support your son by encouraging him to embrace challenges, talk about what they are learning, and reflect on their thinking. Our sponsors and donors are what makes the Caldicott National Schools 10s possible, and at the end of March we hosted our biggest event yet, with 20 teams from around the world and the UK competing. A huge crowd attended on the day and thousands watched on the livestream from home what was a fantastic celebration of competitive U13s rugby.
