🎻It's very important to us that we can show just what progress we make during our rehearsals, and the hard work that students and teachers put in.🪘
🎵Thank you parents, for all your support this year, bringing your children to rehearsals each week and promoting practice at home.🎶
🌞We wish you a very happy summer, and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Wednesday 9th September.📅

Thought for Thursday... Quirky composers! 😆
French composer Jean-Baptiste Lully died of gangrene after accidentally stabbing his own foot with his heavy, long wooden conducting staff while stomping time during a performance!🦶
Ludwig van Beethoven was incredibly specific about his morning brew and counted exactly 60 coffee beans per cup every single morning ☕️

STAFF SPOTLIGHT SERIES!
This is Linda. Linda has been with HMS since 2019 and started covering Training Strings due to long term staff absence once ensembles were allowed to resume after Covid. What started out as a temporary position became permanent and is now one of the favourite parts of her teaching week. Prior to this Linda was involved with NEHASE as a Parent when her son played trumpet with wind band. (The violin wasn't for him!) This was a great experience and he went on to play at University, even playing trumpet for a band who re-formed from the 1980s and went on a European tour with them! His love of music remains and he now works in TV and film.
Linda has been making music since the age of 7 when she unexpectedly bought home a violin from school. Saturday morning lessons followed and one of her favourite early memories was being leader of Hounslow Youth Orchestra and playing The Dambusters March which bought a tear to her very lovely but non-musical Dad's eye. Another favourite piece of hers is Prokoviev's "Peter and the Wolf" which she played in Hounslow Orchestra and was narrated by a very famous and great but long forgotten actor, Sir Michael Horden.
Linda also teaches guitar, keyboard and ukulele for HMS. Prior to working for HMS she was a primary teacher with a senior leadership teaching role involving pupils with additional learning needs at a local Junior School.
Linda enjoys crafting, with her first love being anything bee related as well as music themed creations. You may see her at a local craft fair from time to time so she has room to make some more things!
Something you may not know about Linda is that she also has a bit of a wild side and enjoys the pleasure of going out with her husband whilst driving her old second hand car at the weekends with it's roof down, weather permitting of course!

If you didn't manage to come and see us, but you still really want to be involved, that's no problem!
