✈️ Eyes to the skies! ✈️

What an exciting time it’s been for our little ones as they’ve enjoyed watching the planes flying overhead from the Farnborough Air Show! From our tiniest babies (3 months) to our preschool children (5 years), everyone has been captivated by the incredible sights and sounds above.

These special moments create wonderful learning opportunities for every age. Our babies enjoy watching the movement of the planes, listening to the different sounds, and developing their visual tracking skills. Toddlers love pointing, talking about what they can see, and exploring new words such as “plane,” “high,” “fast,” and “loud.” Our older children have been asking lots of fantastic questions, sparking conversations about how planes fly, different types of aircraft, pilots, travel, and even the science of flight!

We’ve also been counting planes, describing their colours and shapes, talking about the weather, and encouraging children’s natural curiosity as they observe the world around them. These real-life experiences help develop communication and language, understanding of the world, mathematical thinking, and confidence in sharing ideas.

It’s amazing how something as simple as looking up at the sky can inspire so much wonder, imagination, and learning. 💙✈️

Did you know you could save money on your childcare costs through the Workplace Nursery Benefit scheme? 🌟

This employer-supported scheme helps families make childcare more affordable while providing tax savings for both employees and employers. Even better, for every child enrolled through the scheme, our nursery receives additional funding that we can invest back into the setting – from new resources to enhanced learning experiences for all our children. 🧸📚✨

It's a simple contracted partnership between your employer and our nursery, designed to support working families.

Find out how much you could save by clicking the link below or speak to a member of our nursery team today. 💬

☀️🌡️ Keeping Children Safe During a Heatwave 💧🧢

During periods of hot weather, it’s important that everyone stays safe by drinking plenty of water and avoiding too much time in the sun — especially little ones 💛👶

Here are some signs of heat exhaustion to look out for in children (and adults):
💥 Headache
😵 Dizziness or confusion
🤢 Feeling sick or loss of appetite
💦 Excessive sweating / pale, clammy skin
🦵 Cramps in arms, legs or tummy
💓 Fast breathing or pulse
🌡️ High temperature (38°C or above)
🚰 Feeling very thirsty
😴 Children may also become floppy or unusually sleepy

For more guidance, read the official advice here:

💚 If you’re looking for easy family wins this weekend around Farnborough, there’s actually a really good mix of outdoor space, rainy-day backups, and “burn off the child energy before bedtime” options 😄

For outdoor adventures, these are lovely:

💚Hartland Country Park — brilliant for scooters, nature walks, bug hunting, and a slower family morning. Great if you want fresh air without committing to a huge day out.
🌍Southwood Country Park Cafe & Field Centre — ideal for a picnic, bike rides, coffee stop, and playground time all in one place.
🛝King George V Playing Field — one of the better local parks for a proper play session and space to run around.
🧗🏽‍♂️Go Ape Bracknell — slightly further out, but fantastic for older children who love climbing and adventure courses.

If the weather starts misbehaving:

🫟360 Play Farnborough - Family Entertainment Centre and Party Venue — soft play, rides, and easy for younger children.
🏃🏽‍♀️🏚️Run About and Laser Run — good mix of soft play and laser activities for mixed ages.
🕹️High Score Arcades Farnborough — surprisingly fun for families with older kids and nostalgic parents.
✈️Farnborough Air Sciences Trust Museum — open weekends and genuinely interesting if your children love planes, engineering, or hands-on exploring.

Or simply some family time at home, whatever you choose from Joe and the nursery team, we wish you a wonderful weekend. X

✨ Our Little Zen Space ✨

In the middle of busy, exciting nursery days, every child needs a moment to pause, breathe, and just be.

Our zen space is a calm, cosy corner filled with soft textures, gentle lighting, books, and natural elements designed to help children feel safe, settled, and in control of their emotions.

💚 Why it matters:
• Supports emotional regulation and self-soothing
• Builds confidence in managing big feelings
• Encourages mindfulness and quiet reflection
• Creates a sense of safety and belonging

Sometimes the most important learning happens in the quiet moments 💭

At Toad Hall, we value not just active play, but peaceful pauses too 🌿
