The babies explored paint using their hands and fingers, enjoying the different colours and textures. They showed curiosity as they touched, smeared, and patted the paint, watching the marks they made. Some babies used their whole hands, while others explored with their fingertips, demonstrating increasing confidence and independence.
This sensory activity supported their creativity, fine motor development, and early communication as practitioners modelled language such as "soft," "wet," "red," and "squishy." The babies were encouraged to make choices and explore at their own pace in a safe and stimulating environment.
They enjoyed it so much they even painted the staff!!

Wow! What a day we have had. It was our annual Summer Garden Party today. The sun was shining (although maybe a little too much!) the flowers were out, the garden looked beautiful filled with amazing and inviting invitations to play. It was smiles all round 😊🌸🥰

Yesterday we recognised and celebrated International Women’s Day, a time to acknowledge the achievements, strength, and contributions of women across the world, while continuing to champion equality and opportunity for all.
Last week, we also took a moment to celebrate the wonderful women in our own team. Your dedication, resilience, and positivity make a real difference every day.
Thank you for all that you do — we truly appreciate you.

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of celebrating the 5th anniversary of our wonderful Hazel being part of the Pear Tree family.
She is truly an incredible person, and we feel so fortunate to have her in our lives. Thank you, Hazel, for the past five years — not only for the delicious meals you prepare each day (which both the children and adults absolutely love!), but for everything else you do. You care for everyone so thoughtfully, create fantastic menus, and go above and beyond in countless ways — always with a smile.
We appreciate you more than words can say.

Yesterday we celebrated Pancake Day and our wonderful chef Hazel treated us to special homemade pancakes for snack along with fresh fruit and a little bit of cream on the side…delicious! We had very happy children (and staff) with some very full tummies 😊🥰🥞🍳

Today we celebrated Burns night and rather than making the more well thought of food - Haggis, we felt that for children, shortbread would be a more approachable way to participate in the "Scottish Feast.”
In Scotland, it is traditionally gifted during celebrations to represent sharing and good fortune.
The benefits of baking - it is a high-value learning experience:
* Fine Motor Skills: Rubbing butter into flour and pricking the dough with a fork helps strengthen small hand muscles and improves hand-eye coordination.
* Practical Maths: Measuring out the three core ingredients (butter, sugar, and flour) introduces concepts of weight, volume, and ratios.
* Cultural Literacy: It provides an opening to learn about Robert Burns, and his poetry.

Yesterday we had our first staff meeting of 2026! This was all about setting the tone for the year ahead!
We made it extra special creating the hygge feel with low lighting and soft furnishings with food and drink treats too consisting of cheesecake, cheese scones, shortbread biscuits and ginger cake…all home made in house by our fabulous chef Hazel. We also enjoyed a Starbucks ☕️ This was a really positive and productive staff meeting where mood boards were created and a time capsule was made for all our goals for the year ahead - due to be opened in December!
