What came first? That is the question....
In business we are always presented with the problem but it’s not always important what decision you make, it’s important that you make one. What’s holding you back?
EVs have made an impact, with over two million on the roads and more to come. Most of us don’t like change, but consider the technologies introduced over the years: ABC, Traction Control, fuel injection, common rail diesel, air bags, CAN Networks, electronic ignition, radar, lidar, lane keep assist, automatic braking… the list goes on.
Now the biggest change: the high voltage powertrain, batteries, motors and associated components. It’s a lot to get your head around.
So, what’s the Chicken & Egg got to do with it?
Many garages are turning customers away when presented with EV's either for servicing, MOTs, repairs and diagnostics. Put yourself in the customer’s shoes. How does this look for the industry? Not prepared, not equipped, don’t understand how it works, or just don’t like EVs. It doesn't instill much confidence.
Your loyal customer will go elsewhere. It takes 7 times more effort to gain a new customer than retain one.
We have the chicken, but the egg has not hatched yet. For more than 16 years we have been training and IMI-qualifying technicians, helping them understand EV technology. Over 16,000 trained and growing. Many start unconvinced EVs are the future, but demand is increasing.
