OCC has asked schools to support with updated Free School Meal eligibility checks following recent government changes.

From September, eligibility will need to be re-checked each year. Some families may now qualify, especially if they receive Universal Credit, as the previous earnings cap has been removed. However, some households who previously qualified may no longer be eligible.
⚠️ Important: Families currently receiving Free School Meals should check whether they need to reapply to ensure meals continue from September 2026.
📌Families may qualify if they receive certain benefits, including Universal Credit, Income Support, income-based JSA or ESA, State Pension Credit, Child Tax Credit within the stated threshold, or support under immigration and asylum rules.

Free school meals are available to pupils in receipt of, or whose parents are in receipt of, one or more of the following benefits:

Wednesday 1 July 2026
5.45pm
Faringdon Community College - Mail Hall
A reminder we are inviting our new Year 7 students and their parents and carers to our Transition Evening.
Please note: The rear gate will not be open so please leave time to walk round.
This is an important opportunity for students to meet their new Tutor ahead of joining FCC in September, helping them feel confident and excited about the transition to secondary school.
There will also be opportunity to speak to our Head of Year 7 and members of the Senior Leadership Team, who will share information about starting secondary school and answer any questions you may have about the move to FCC.
As part of the evening, we are also pleased to welcome Wantage Bookshop, who will be hosting a book stall featuring a selection of books to support children with the transition. https://www.booksfortopics.com/booklists/topics/pshe-emotional-literacy-citizenship/y6-transition/
Families will have the opportunity to browse and purchase books on the night.
We look forward to welcoming you to FCC and supporting your family as you prepare for this exciting next step.

Faringdon Community College Sponsored Walk 2026

Thursday 16 July

The FCC sponsored walk has formed the mainstay of our fundraising activity for the last 30 years. The walk is a gentle 7 miles through local countryside, mainly on footpaths with a stop halfway for lunch.

This year we are raising money for Kazo Hill College School (our partnership school in Uganda).

More information about the day is available on the FCC website https://www.fccoxon.co.uk/page/?title=Letters&pid=64
