Year 5 had an amazing day at Chichester Harbour this week, bringing their classroom learning about rivers to life!

The children explored the features of a river system, identified features such as meanders, erosion, deposition and confluences, carried out fieldwork in the stream and created field sketches. They also learnt about flooding, run-off and how water is managed in the local area.

It was a fantastic hands-on geography experience and a great opportunity to learn outside the classroom.

We were incredibly proud of the children – they were enthusiastic, engaged and represented Red Barn brilliantly throughout the day! 👏🌊

🦷 Thank you, Dentaid! 🪥
Today, Dentaid visited Red Barn Primary School and ran dental health workshops for children in Years 1–6.

The children learned about how to look after their teeth, the importance of brushing twice a day, making healthy food and drink choices, and why regular dental care is so important.

Every child will be coming home with their own toothbrush and toothpaste to help keep those smiles healthy! 😁

A big thank you to Dentaid for giving our children such a useful and engaging experience. 💙 !

Year 3 successfully earned their Star Jar reward this half term, and what a wonderful way to celebrate! After returning to the classroom following lunch, the children were delighted to discover that it had been transformed into a charming French café.
The tables were dressed with table runners, and the children were presented with a simple French menu featuring baguette et confiture, fromage, croissants, tarte au citron and a refreshing, cool glass of grenadine. As they sampled the delicious French treats, they enjoyed listening to relaxing Parisian café-style music, creating a truly authentic atmosphere.
The fun continued with a team challenge: using only dried spaghetti and mini marshmallows, the children worked together to design and build their own miniature Eiffel Towers. They demonstrated fantastic teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills throughout the activity. Of course, the biggest challenge for many was resisting the temptation to eat their building materials before construction was complete!
It was a joyful afternoon filled with laughter, learning and memorable experiences, and a lovely way to celebrate a successful year together in Year 3. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and wish them a wonderful summer break. ☀️✨
