🌿🌸 Developing Our Main Garden! 🌸🌿

We’re very excited to share some of the changes and developments happening in our main nursery garden! 💚

We’re continually looking at how we can adapt and enhance our outdoor environment to create even more exciting opportunities for our children to explore, investigate, create and learn through play. 🌈

✏️ Enhancing our mark-making opportunities – we’re developing new spaces and resources where children can make their own marks, experiment with different materials and develop the early skills that support writing.

💦🏖️ A brand-new sand and water tray – providing endless opportunities for scooping, pouring, filling, emptying and exploring. These experiences support mathematical thinking, language development, problem-solving and fine motor skills.

🧱 A new construction area – giving our children the chance to build, design, balance and create their own ideas. Construction play encourages imagination, teamwork, spatial awareness and problem-solving skills.

🌱 Our allotment is still a work in progress! 🌱
We’re excited about developing this space further and creating opportunities for the children to learn about growing, nature, food and caring for our environment.

💧 Can you help us?
We would really appreciate any donations of a water butt or composter to help us develop our allotment and make it a truly engaging learning space for the children. If you have one that you no longer need, please speak to a member of the nursery team. 💚

🌳 Why is outdoor play so important?
Outdoor play is a vital part of children’s early development. Being outside gives children the freedom and space to move their bodies, develop gross and fine motor skills, build confidence and independence, take appropriate risks and explore the world around them.

It also provides wonderful opportunities for children to develop their communication, creativity, problem-solving and social skills through open-ended, hands-on experiences.

Our garden isn’t just a place to play – it’s an extension of our classroom, where children can learn, discover and make connections in a natural and stimulating environment. 🌿🪴🐞

We can’t wait to see our garden continue to grow and evolve alongside our children! 🌱💚

🥝🏃‍♀️ Celebrating All Things Sporty & Healthy! 🏃‍♂️🍓

What a fantastic week we’ve had at nursery celebrating healthy eating, physical movement and being active! 🌟

Our little ones have been busy exploring a wonderful range of experiences, including:

👩‍🍳 Budding Chefs – baking delicious, healthy cookies and developing confidence, independence and practical skills along the way.

🧘‍♀️ Cosmic Yoga – stretching, moving, balancing and learning how our bodies can move in different ways, while supporting mindfulness and wellbeing.

🍎 Fruit Tasting – exploring a colourful variety of fruits, discovering new tastes and textures, and developing positive attitudes towards healthy foods.

🏃‍♂️ Gross Motor Skills – building strength, balance, coordination and spatial awareness through active movement and physical play.

✋ Fine Motor Skills – strengthening little hands and fingers through activities that support dexterity, control and hand-eye coordination.

Healthy eating in the early years provides children with the energy and essential nutrients they need to grow, learn and develop. Introducing a variety of nutritious foods and encouraging children to explore different tastes and textures can help establish positive eating habits from an early age. 🍓🥕🥦

Physical movement is just as important! Regular active play helps children develop strong muscles and bones, balance, coordination and confidence, while also supporting their emotional wellbeing, concentration and overall development. 💪🧠❤️

Most importantly, we’ve been having lots of fun while learning how to look after our bodies! 🌈✨

Well done, everyone, for such a healthy, active and exciting week! 👏💚

🌟 People Who Help Us! 🌟

What a wonderful and inspiring week we have had at nursery celebrating our theme, ‘People Who Help Us’! 👩‍⚕️👨‍🚒👮‍♀️🦸‍♂️

The children have loved dressing up as the many different people who help us in our communities — from doctors, nurses and police officers to firefighters, superheroes and so many more! 🚒🚑🚓

Throughout the week, the children have taken part in lots of exciting, hands-on activities. They have had the chance to put out their own fires 🔥, rescue their friends 🛟, practise first aid on one another and explore what it means to help and care for others. Most importantly, we have been talking about just how wonderful and important every individual job is, and the incredible impact each person can have on someone else’s life. ❤️

We have also been incredibly lucky to welcome two of our wonderful nursery mummies to share their amazing jobs with us!

🦴 Our first mummy is a Conservator at the Natural History Museum, helping to care for and protect cultural heritage collections. We were so excited to have her visit and show us some fascinating artefacts, including fossils and a woolly mammoth’s tooth! 🦣🔎 The children were fascinated to learn about how these special objects are looked after and preserved for future generations.

🚑 Our second mummy helps train the local police force in first aid, teaching them how to help save and rescue people in an emergency. The children had a fantastic time using the Resusci Anne dolls to learn about checking for danger and how we can help someone by performing CPR. They also learnt an incredibly important number to remember if they are ever in trouble — 999! 📞

A huge thank you to both of our amazing mummies for taking the time to share their knowledge, skills and experiences with us. 💕 You have helped make our week so special and shown the children that there are so many different ways we can help others.

What a fantastic week of learning, exploring, helping and celebrating the wonderful people who make a difference every day! 🌈✨

🌦️ Rain or shine, we love exploring! 🌈

Our babies had a wonderful outing to the park this morning! 💕 They enjoyed exploring the swings, investigating the climbing frame and practising their running skills as they made the most of the open field. 🛝🏃‍♀️🌳

Along the way, the children thoroughly enjoyed waving to the builders and watching the world around them as we travelled through our local community. 👋👷‍♂️

Getting out and about provides so many valuable learning opportunities. These experiences support the EYFS by encouraging children’s Physical Development, Communication and Language, Understanding the World and Personal, Social and Emotional Development. 🌱

We love that we are now able give our little ones opportunities to experience the wider community, develop confidence, build connections with the world around them and, most importantly, have lots of fun along the way! 💛

Every outing is an adventure! 🌳✨

☀️🏴‍☠️🧚‍♀️ Summer Fun Month at Nursery! 🧚‍♂️🏰✨

What a wonderful start we have had to our Summer Fun Month! Our children have been busy enjoying a fantastic variety of fun, imaginative and hands-on activities, making the most of every opportunity to explore, create and have fun together. 💛

Our nursery has been transformed into a world of pirates, fairies and much-loved fairy-tale characters, with the children thoroughly enjoying dressing up and using their imaginations throughout the week. We have also had lots of fun with face painting, allowing the children to express themselves and become their favourite characters! 🎨🧚‍♀️🏴‍☠️

📚 Stories have been a big part of our summer adventures, with the children exploring a variety of fairy tales and storylines. Through talking about characters, retelling stories and sharing their ideas, the children have been developing their Communication and Language and Literacy skills, building new vocabulary and confidence in expressing themselves.

🎨 Through dressing up, role play, creative activities and face painting, the children have also been developing their Expressive Arts and Design, using their creativity and imagination to bring their ideas to life.

👀👃🖐️ Our sensory tuff trays have provided lots of exciting opportunities for exploration. The children have used their senses to investigate different textures, materials and objects, developing their curiosity and encouraging them to ask questions, make discoveries and explore the world around them.

🌱 EYFS Learning Connections
✨ Communication & Language – developing vocabulary, listening, attention and confidence when sharing ideas and stories.

On Friday 24th July 2026, we had the pleasure of celebrating the graduation of 33 amazing children as they prepare for their exciting transition to school this September! 🌟📚

It was such a lovely afternoon, and we were so grateful to see so many families join us to celebrate this special milestone. Watching the children beam with pride as they received their certificates made it a day to remember. ❤️

Yesterday we had an AMAZING visit from ZooLab! 🐍🦂🕷️🪳

Our children were fascinated as they met some incredible creatures, including a snake, scorpion, cockroach and tarantula! They loved getting up close, asking lots of questions, and learning all about what makes each animal unique. From discovering how they move to where they live and how they protect themselves, it was a fantastic hands-on learning experience.

Experiences like these support the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) by encouraging children's Understanding the World as they explore living things and their habitats. It also helped develop their Communication and Language skills through listening, questioning and sharing ideas, while building Confidence as many children bravely chose to touch or hold the animals!

A huge thank you to ZooLab for inspiring curiosity, encouraging exploration, and making learning so much fun. We can't wait to welcome you back! 💚
