I am excited to present my next batch of workshops taking place on Sunday 13th October.
Offering workshops for parents who have children starting in Year R or Year 1.
These workshops are ONLY £10! They will give you the confidence to support your child with the knowledge and skills shared by a QUALIFIED TEACHER with 14 years experience.
To book, please email: [email protected]
Maybe it's your first child starting school or it's been a while since your eldest was in Year 1 and you need a refresher... with lots of latest research around how a child's brain retains knowledge and actually learns.
Don't worry I won't stand and talk at you for an hour! I am a big advocate for active learning so we will play some fun games (lots that you can then do at home with your child).
I am also going to give you a BACK TO SCHOOL OFFER! If you book before the end of September you will a 10% discount.
What was that email again...

See you there

School readiness…. Importance of hand washing and encouraging independence. I like to sing a silly song whilst I wash my hands but maybe you could try:
🫧 take pictures of your child washing their hands after using the toilet and place them up in the bathroom
🫧 draw out a visual flowchart so your child can remember the order: use toilet, flush toilet then wash hands
There are lots of ways to support your child and ways to gradually reduce the supporting aids so that more ownership is taken into account.
If you want to work with me on any routines that you are trying to master with your children (getting dressed, breakfast time, bedtime, on the way to school, going shopping - all of these can be stress-free). I am available for bespoke consultations, tailored to your needs. Book a free discovery call and tell me how I can help you:

How do you keep the kids entertained on an aeroplane? Simple. Cheap notepads, scratch pads, fun pens, stickers and travel-sized games… wrap them up 🎁
Top tip: bring a small carrier bag to put all the wrapping paper in
Your choice: let your smalls open the presents all at once or give them at regular intervals to keep them going the entire flight ✈️
Helpful: keeps your child practising their phonics and writing even when on holiday. Maybe they will draw themselves in the swimming pool or write a list of the things they will see/do when they get there.
Happy holidays everyone 😎

With it being report season, I’ve been working on my laptop at home a lot more and my little one has wanted to touch the letters on my laptop 💻
An old keyboard and now she has her own set up ⌨️ 📝 her focus is on tricky words but you could mix this up with digraphs, single letters or even a name card to practise writing their name!
Set up time: 2 mins ⏱️
Learning opportunities: Unlimited ✨
Please follow me for more ideas 💡

Officially launching my parent consultations. Work with me to overcome a current frustration, develop an area your child is currently having difficulty with, broaden your skill set to be able to support your child in their development and feel like you are the parent you want to be.

… and much more!
How it works:

Thought I’d treat myself for lunch by going to the bakery and it got me thinking 🤔 Children are exposed to reading all the time, even before they start school, before they can even recognise letters… the reason for this is logos. 🤩
Logos are a clever way for businesses to get their brand recognised by consumers. Our children from a young age are already distinguishing between the colours, shapes and patterns and using their memory to retain this information. So even though they cannot read the word “Peppa Pig”, when it is presented in its logo form, children know exactly what it means. And it’s how children begin to learn that these ‘marks’, squiggles, patterns have meaning and encourages children to already want to encode and have a go at making their own marks (setting them up for reading and writing)!
So if your child is starting school in September, try to tune them into legos. Which ones do they recognise already? Do they know which shop they have walked in to by the sign outside? Is it Tesco’s or is it M&S? Similarities/differences? And of course, having lots of valuable, fun conversations with your children will always brighten their future and build connections with you ❤️

Focus today is on double consonant digraphs in the middle of words. It appeared in a book and a child found it difficult to sound out. So next time we could to read, I have the magnetic letters out, we will practise building the word, jumble it up before rebuilding it again and then we will read the book. Of course, we will discuss how the ‘o’ is trying to trick us and is making an /oo/ sound. This will give the child confidence to read it when it appears in the book.

I am looking for 3 parent volunteers who have a child aged 3-6 who would be interested in trialing my Bespoke Parent Consultations. I’m a qualified teacher and looking to extend my side hassle. I am hoping to offer these consultations to support parents who may be frustrated, feel like they have exhausted all attempts, confused or stressed-out but wish to support and raise healthy, happy children ❤️
What will it involve?
🦋 Week 1 - An initial telephone conversation where you can share your area of concern related to your child (it can be anything, see list below for suggestions)
🦋 Week 2 - I will draw up an action plan and guide you through how to overcome your difficulty or barrier
🦋 Weeks 3&4 - Each week we will schedule a telephone conversation that will last approximately 30 minutes to review how things are going, whether we need to make any tweaks and plans next steps going forward.
🦋 Week 5 - Reflections and completion
What do you need to do?
✅ Comment below or email me for your chance to receive this FREE consultation package: [email protected]
✅ Tell me how old your child is
✅ Share with me the difficulty you are having and what you are looking to achieve
Some suggestions for what I may help you with:
🦋 Behaviour meltdowns in public places
🦋 Understanding home learning/work
🦋 Child displaying big emotions
🦋 How to set healthy routines or habits
🦋 Autism diagnosis and strategies to support my child
🦋 How to get my child off the tablet or TV
🦋 Supporting my child with transitions
🦋 How to encourage more independence in my child
Please note this list has endless possibilities, please get in touch if there is something I haven’t listed.
Again my email: [email protected]
Finally, I am hoping to help a child from each age range so I can vary my experience: a preschooler, Year R, Year 1. If I receive an overwhelming response from parents, especially those looking for the same support, I will have to be selective I’m afraid so I can vary the expertise I am delivering. I hope the trial will be successful and allow me to offer these consultations on a permanent basis in the future.

Are you a parent of a Year 1 child?
Your child is already over half way through Year 1. Your child’s teacher may have mentioned the Phonics Decoding Check (June 2024) and whether or not your child is on track to pass. I can tell you all you need to know about it and what can be done to support your child.
Without a doubt, reading is a very important skill to master… and a difficult one.
Often reading can home can be:
😩 A struggle
😠 Involve shouting or tantrums
🫠 Reluctance
But with Little Miss Flutterby it can be:
🤩 Inspiring
😂 Fun and exciting
😍 Promote love of reading
So let’s give them the confidence and skills they need to thrive in reading, setting them up for life!
