Learning to understand multiplication needs real objects so children can understand what 'times' means. I'm loving using a popit for this - kinesthetic, visual and fun

This is why I think application of skills is so important in tutoring.

I'm determined to get my screen-loving kids outside this half term. So, this week I have been creating some scavenger hunts to help foster curiosity and some 'out of the box' thinking.
My children are now 12, 15 and 17 but these scavenger hunts would be great for primary school-aged kids too.
I'd love you guys to enjoy try these at half term so I'm giving a discount on my bundle, just on toucan tutoring, for any purchases until the end of half term (until Sun 2nd June).

Whatever you do this half term, I hope you have fun and I'd love to hear what plans you have.

Happy holidays everyone! Im enjoying my last piece of peace for 6 weeks.
Hope you all make amazing memories.
Did you know children can fall back 3 months in their reading over the six week holidays so keep reading! 📚 the library runs a reading challenge each summer- do check it out 👀

The government have announced a £1bn fund 🤩 to help students catch up.
It comes as no surprise to me that most of that money will be spend on 1:1 or small group tuition.
Why?
Because individual tuition is so effective: its personalised and tailored to a child's needs - emotional as well as educational.
That's why I love to tutor. I can see the impact it has...not just on a child's education but also their attitude, enthusiasm and confidence in themselves and the subject

School's out for summer! 😳
The government has announced that not all primary children will go back this school year.
What does this mean for our children or our homeschooling parents, especially as many are returning to more hours of work?
For our family, we work on the mantra, 'It's a marathon not a sprint.' Some days we play lego, some days we have write, some days we do maths and science experiments, some days we walk the dog.
We will be reading everyday, keeping up some basic maths skills and trying to remember to be inquistive and confident learners. And, we'll be doing this in the summer holidays too!
Plan dropped for all primary pupils back in school
The reopening of primary school for all year groups in England is to be ditched by the government.
