Calling all soon‑to‑be sewing bees!

If you’ve ever wished you could sit behind a sewing machine and watch the magic unfold, this is your moment. We love helping people who haven’t sewn since school, or have never sewn at all, feel confident and comfortable as they demystify the sewing machine. Its not as scary as it looks!

With our beautiful new studio now ready, we’re thrilled to welcome our new textiles tutor, Becky of Thread & Thimble. Becky brings a love of all things fabric which she will be sharing with you, from sewing machines and quilting to dressmaking and more. Her first class this Friday is perfect for total beginners: you’ll learn the basics while creating a beautiful cushion to take home!

A gentle, welcoming way to start your sewing journey - head over to her website to find out more!

So… how’s everyone making the most of this sunshine??

Would it worry you to know that I’ve spent most of today planning Christmas classes and making samples for our festive glass workshops… because it’s true!! And before you judge me, remember, it’s exactly 6 months to Christmas on THURSDAY!

If you’re anything like me (and a few of my lovely regulars), the festive prep never really stops. We’ve already hosted six Christmas Clubs this year and we’re only just getting started....and I am so excited!!!

This Thursday we’re going all‑in with our Vintage Tree Workshop at our lovely new Studio The Makers' Corner - there are only three places left! Or, if macrame is more your thing, Heather from Driftwood and Twine will also be with us making Christmas Decorations, ho ho ho!!!

Two cosy Christmas makes, one gorgeous new space, and a perfect excuse to ignore the sunshine for a little sparkle!

This is one of those things that happens to someone else, somewhere else. The Makers House brings people together for a reason - we have had the pleasure of crafting with Evie and her family, so now we are putting this out there in case anyone can help…..it’s a huge ask, but an immeasurable return. Please consider, and share xx

Community News - 💚 A Special Appeal for One of Our Former Students 💚

Many of you may remember Evie, one of our wonderful former students. Today, we're helping to share her story in the hope that it reaches the person who could change her life.

At just 17 years old, Evie should be focusing on college, music, friends, and all the exciting opportunities that come with being a teenager. Instead, she is living with aHUS, an ultra-rare condition that caused her kidneys to fail, leaving her dependent on dialysis, medication, and frequent hospital visits.

Despite everything, Evie remains creative, determined, and full of life. She loves singing, music, and textile art, and dreams of returning to college and enjoying the independence every young person deserves.

Evie urgently needs a living kidney donor.
✔️ Blood type B or O
✔️ Aged 18–60
✔️ Generally fit and healthy
✔️ BMI under 30

Donating a kidney is a carefully managed process, with specialist nurses providing support throughout and maintaining complete confidentiality.
If you'd like to learn more about becoming a donor for Evie, please contact Specialist Nurse Amy Shipperley at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust via email: [email protected] and mention that you are enquiring for Evie Carter.

Even if donating isn't possible for you, sharing this post could help it reach the person who can make a difference.
💚 Please share and help us give Evie the chance to live the life every teenager deserves.
