ence to Young People aged 10 to 24 and support their employability and progression onto further education, an Apprenticeship or a job. Over the past 13 years, the CMA has supported more than 35,000 young people aged 10 to 24 through career advice, taster sessions, vocational training and Pre-Apprenticeships, involving Cornwall Marine Network’s members as volunteer ambassadors to provide meaningful hands-on experiences and industry-led programmes. ABOUT CORNWALL MARINE ACADEMY...
Cornwall Marine Network (CMN) created Cornwall Marine Academy (CMA) to find situations to problems reported by local Marine employers when trying to employ Young People for their future workforce. Employers identified insufficient employability skills, young people lacking awareness of career opportunities in the Marine sector, a lack of any meaningful work-experience and a poor work ethic. In response, Cornwall Marine Academy challenged and supported Marine employers to engage in providing solutions to the issue of preparing young people for their future Marine careers. CMA has gained an excellent track-record of delivering industry-led programmes; including careers advice, taster sessions, employability skills, work placements at Marine businesses’ premises, industry recognised vocational qualifications, 1:1 mentoring and group-work and training embedded into the school curriculum.
