Singing Tree Steiner Kindergarten Singing Tree is Brighton Steiner School’s satellite kindergarten in Falmer Village. It offers Stei "The outcomes for children are outstanding."

The Singing Tree kindergarten welcomes children aged 2 years 10 months to 6 years old. We offer Monday to Thursday mornings in Falmer until 1pm and forest Day on Fridays in Stanmer Park. There is a Monday afternoon available until 3 at the kindergarten in Falmer. Should you need more childcare, daily afternoon sessions are also available at Brighton Steiner School until from 1-5:40 pm. Singing Tree children have regular walks past the pond, with all its wildlife, then through the fields and farm. Each day we have time for imaginative free play and activities such as: watercolour painting, crafts, eurythmy, gardening and baking bread. The weekly Forest Day is a wonderful outdoor morning and runs right through the year. The children love playing outdoors and it offers a healthy balance to modern life to have a whole morning enjoying adventure walks, games, play, crafts and eating outside. We cook our soup over an open fire.
~Funding for all 3 & 4 year old children.
~We take two year old funding if your family is eligible. Our range of open ended play equipment are made from natural materials, largely wood, cloth and things found in nature such as pine cones. These things allow the children to embrace their imagination and creative thinking skills. A cotton veil can be a dressing up cloak, a wall of a house made from play frames, a dress, a swaddle for a doll and so on. Each day has a rhythm incorporating adult led time, snack time and free play. We also have an outdoor time each day with a walk through the village and/or outdoor play. Quotes from the early years section of our recent school inspection report dated November 2016:
"The kindergarten provision for children aged under five is outstandingly effective. The needs of the under-fives are met extremely well, including those with special educational needs. A particular strength is the promotion of children’s personal and emotional development, enabling them to feel safe, secure and happy." "The quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding." "The leadership and management of the EYFS are outstanding. Shared practices and mutual support have been developed, seeking continuous improvement." A syou see the early years department, (including Singing Tree Satellite kindergarten) was reported as outstanding. You can see the report here: http://www.brightonsteinerschool.org.uk/our-school/sis-report/

Our approach helps the older children to nurture the younger ones, help them get dressed, if needed, develop a sense of responsibility and emotional intelligence. The setting at Falmer is beautiful and well worth a visit to an open morning to see us for yourself.

Singing Tree Kindergarten integrated back into the Brighton Waldorf School, of which it was a satellite.
We still have spaces in Parent & Child Groups, kindergartens and classes 1-3 for September. Come and see a setting where the child’s needs come first. They have time to play, do crafts, bake and enjoy childhood in a homelike environment. Kindergarten children also have daily morning walks to East Brighton Park. The groups are deliberately small to ensure the best quality of experience. Days are filled with songs and wonder. Children eat wholesome healthy organic food. Formal literacy starts at 6 in class 1.
See the kindergartens and class 1 for yourself this afternoon Tuesday 4th July from 2:30 pm. All welcome.

A newcomer to the village... I spotted a Mandarin duck as I was leaving the kindergarten today. Never seen one before in Falmer Pond. So very sweet. They were always my favourite type of duck. Mind you, the baby Moorhens were very cute and fluffy, but we were too busy admiring them on our walk today to take a picture.

Morning at the pond in Falmer before the children arrive. The goslings and ducks still snoozing in the sunshine! So sweet.

Mummy and Daddy goose are watchful parents. On our walks the kindergarten children learn not to get too close as we were once hissed at! So we watch quietly from a little further away.
