As temperatures rise, here are some important tips to help keep babies and children safe, cool and happy:

💧 Offer plenty of fluids throughout the day
🧊 Frozen fruit, ice lollies and cool snacks can help older children stay hydrated
👒 Wear loose, lightweight clothing and a sun hat
🌳 Stay in the shade during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm)
🧴 Apply high SPF sunscreen regularly
🏠 Keep rooms cool by closing curtains during the day
💦 Water play is a great way to cool down and have fun!

⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNINGS ⚠️

❌ NEVER place a blanket, muslin or cover over a pram or pushchair. Even lightweight fabrics can trap heat and cause temperatures inside the pram to rise dangerously.

❌ NEVER leave a child alone in a car, even for a minute.

❌ Avoid overdressing babies. If you’re warm, they probably are too.

❌ Don’t rely on a fan blowing directly onto a baby for long periods.

❌ Be extra cautious with babies under 6 months, who can overheat more quickly.

🚨 Signs of overheating can include:
• Flushed cheeks
• Sweating or unusually hot skin
• Being very sleepy or lethargic
• Irritability
• Fewer wet nappies

If you’re worried your child is overheating, move them somewhere cool, offer fluids and seek medical advice if symptoms don’t improve.

Hi, I’m Coco! I’ve been running Coco’s Moo Music in Falkirk for over 11 years, creating fun, engaging classes where little ones can learn, play, explore and grow through music, movement and sensory experiences.

🎵 I’m passionate about child development and love designing activities that help children build confidence, communication skills, coordination and social skills – all while having lots of fun! Every class is carefully planned to support learning through play in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

💜 When I’m not singing Moo Music songs, you’ll usually find me walking my two border terriers, Ziggy & Zed, planning new adventures for our classes, or thinking up exciting ideas for The Cowshed and our wonderful Moo community.

✨ My favourite part of what I do? Watching children grow in confidence, seeing friendships blossom, and creating a space where parents, grandparents and carers feel just as welcome as their little ones.
