Shared on behalf of Scottish Human Rights Commission
Dear friend
We would like to hear from people across Scotland about their experiences when it comes to human rights. Could you please help us by sharing this short survey with people in your networks?
We are particularly keen to hear from people whose voices are often under-represented in policy and decision making – we would be really grateful for any support you can offer with this.
Responses to the survey are anonymous and confidential. The information we receive will help shape the next phase of Scotland's National Action Plan for Human Rights.
Many thanks.

NHS Forth Valley "Get checked" initiative

Dear interpreters,
NHS FV have organised a training programme for interpreters to attend related to Health Literacy Awareness. We believe that this will be of great benefit to you, especially those of you working within the health sector.
The initial class is 2 hours long and depending on what arises from it you may move in to more specific areas of development. You will also receive a certificate for attending this course.
Here is a synopsis of the course;
Health Literacy Awareness
Health Literacy is about people having enough knowledge, understanding, skills and confidence to use health information, to be active partners in their care and to navigate health and social care systems.
Is health literacy really such a big issue? 43% of working age adults will struggle to understand instructions to calculate a childhood paracetamol dose.
This course will help you to:
• Recognise people’s health literacy needs
• Be aware of appropriate resources
• Employ a range of communication tools
The dates available for this training is as follows:
• Monday 7th December 2015 2-4pm @ Forth Valley Royal Hospital
• Thursday 14th January 2016 10-12am @ Forth Valley Royal Hospital
• Monday 18th January 2016 2-4pm @ Forth Valley Royal Hospital
The spaces left for these courses are very limited. If you would like to attend please get in touch either through facebook or by emailing us at [email protected]
If you have any questions regarding this training session please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.
