Weβre putting learners in control of their car driving test bookings π
If youβve got a booking or youβll be looking for a test soon, make a note of these dates π
31 March 2026 β only 2 changes can be made to a booking
12 May 2026 β only learners are allowed to book a test and make changes
9 June 2026 β learners can move their booked test only to nearby centres
By changing who can book car and change driving tests, weβre aiming to reduce the re-selling of driving tests, giving the power back to learners πͺ

Amazing drive π Ceiran passing with 3 minors π
A flash in the Highway Code has only one meaning A warning of your presence Not Jo." S Not "pull out.' Not "I'm letting you out."
When someone flashes at a earner, the learner feels obligec to move
They often think, "They've flashed, I must go now." And in that moment of pressure some stop checking properly Some misjudge a gap Some move because they fee hurried not because it is genuinely safe
Quite often they stall rushing to move if under pressure .
This is how accidents happen. Not out of bad intentions. but out of confusion
Learners are already managing mirrors, signals, clutch control traffic, nerves, and the entire environment around them Adding a flashing headlight intc the mix only increases pressure preaks their concentration. and replaces a safe decision with a rushed one
The kindest thing you can do for a learner is to be predictable
Keep driving normally v Hold your speed steadily Let them decide when it is safe
Give them time and space Allow them to follow what they'reI being taught not someone else's
gesture
Learners grow confident by making safe decisions themselves. Not by being pushed. Not by being beckoned. Not by feeling they owe someone a quick pull-out because of a flash.
Patience is far kinder than signals that send mixed messages.
Let's support learners properly not by trying to "help." but by giving them the calm, consistent environment they need to learn safely.
