Photography for Enjoyment
Graeme High School, Falkirk
Falkirk Wheel and Bo’Ness Railway
10th March 2020
S5 Higher Photography
Block 1 Workshop 1&2
Here’s photosets from two fantastic days spent with S5 pupils from Graeme High School.
Great to support the guys in their personal photography projects and help them develop more skills, technical knowledge and confidence.
The brief was to experiment with pattern, texture, home made filters and a focus on composition.
We had two fantastic locations to work with, the Falkirk Wheel and The Museum of Scottish Railways at Bo‘Ness
It was an excuse to experiment with the camera and look how to create some narrative in the images.
Such a great way to spend some creative time, and great to facilitate workshops where you learn yourself, and with photography there is always something new to take on board.
Great also to tutor participants who are hungry to learn about such an exciting and enjoyable art form and who are supportive of each other in that process.

Crichton Estate: Pattern and Texture
13th of November 2021
Block 4 Workshop 5
“ Pattern and Texture ”
Here’s another photoset from a fantastic day at the treasure trove that is the Crichton Estate which was never posted due to things getting so busy at For Enjoyment during the pandemic.
The brief was to experiment with pattern and texture of which there is an abundance at the beautiful Crichton grounds.
It was an excuse to experiment with the camera, to just use light as a brush, so much fun and freedom. Isn’t that what photography should be about, fun and freedom.
Such a lovely way to spend some creative time, and great to facilitate workshops were you learn yourself, and with photography there is always something new to take on board.
Great also to tutor participants who are hungry to learn about such an exciting and enjoyable art form and who are supportive of each other in that process.
It’s a reflection of our inclusive supportive and extremely friendly community of creatives that everyone felt comfortable taking some risks with the images they captured.
A difficult challenge but as usual the team rose to it and Javier Aregger our tutor helped everyone produce some spectacular results which were posted on the Photography for Enjoyment page.

Dumfries Aviation Museum 7th March 2020
Block 4 Workshop 4
“ Symmetry / Colour ”
My Photoset from a fantastic day at the treasure trove that is the Aviation Museum, which I never posted due to things getting so busy at For Enjoyment during the pandemic.
The brief was to experiment with symmetry and colour, make and experiment with imagery and to find unusual angles.
It was an excuse to paint with the camera, to just use light as a brush. I intentionally tried not to get anything in focus and created abstract landscapes, so much fun and freedom.

A difficult challenge but as usual the team rose to it and produced some spectacular results which were posted on the Photography for Enjoyment page.
Sadly that was our last workshop with the fantastic tutor Jamie Thomson before he moved onto pastures new, he passed on a huge breadth of knowledge and was a great support to those starting on their photography journey.
