Summer is almost over, and time for me to get busy with more felting classes! I’ve had a great break and some much needed family time; but now I’m back with some old favourites and some new projects too. Looking forward to autumn, my favourite season; and all the wonderful colours it brings 💛🧡❤️💜

I’ll do a post for each venue with what’s happening and when, but first here’s the list of what’s coming up in Swindon, St Margaret’s Retail Park, and all these are early evening ‘mini classes’ 6pm to 7:30, priced at £25.

These sessions are short but full of creativity. Think of it as buying a craft kit, but being shown how to make it in real life, rather than having to muddle through the instructions!

- Leaping Dolphin on 23rd September 🐬 Lots of gorgeous beads and sea shells to decorate the bobbin base, plus real wool curls for the waves.

- Vampire Bats on 28th October. Can be displayed hanging, flying or standing! I’ve called mine Laszlo 😁🦇

- Winter Woodland picture on 18th November. Photo coming soon, I have some beautiful tweed fabric for this one! ⛄️

- Pigs in Blankets on 9th December. Make three cute decorations for your Christmas tree 🎄

I’ve had a wonderful week at Oxford Summer School - Arts, Crafts & Music , both as a teacher and a student! More on the student part in another post; first I need to celebrate the wonderful ladies who attended my hummingbird workshop on Monday and Tuesday. You were amazing! Such concentration and very high levels of finish to your work; despite the hot weather you smashed it 🙌🏻👏🏻

You should all be so proud of your achievements, and thank you for making it such a special environment of support and friendship. Best love, Sarah xx

Places are still available for Felted Hummingbird and Hibiscus at on 3rd and 4th August. This two day felting extravaganza brings simple needle felting and sheet felt techniques together, to create a gravity defying wool sculpture. If it looks complicated, don’t be put off; it’s actually very beginner friendly! The secret is a wire that goes from the bird‘s beak, into a tube in the top of the flower 😀

I left the original audio in; you can probably tell, from the wind noise why I was having a hard time keeping my hand still 😆

You’ll receive enough materials to make more hibiscus flowers and leaves, if you want to. Topics covered in this class include:

- shaping and joining wool felt
- using hidden wire to join structures together
- building and colouring onto a core wool base
- tools and fibre advice
- using dissolvable fabric to create fine elements

We had a wonderful day at the Gardening Mouse class, hosted at May I Design on Saturday. Such a beautiful venue, and great parking too!

There's still time to book in for my first workshop at the new May I Design studio in Kiddington, near Woodstock, Oxon. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Meg has settled into her new space; and teaching this lovely class!

I'm busy printing and sorting all the little accessories for gardening mice - little brooms, veg trays, seed packets and pots. Just a little message to say that I’ll be back at Kelmscott Craft Market this coming Thursday 28th May. A spot came up, so I couldn’t refuse (especially as I did so well at the last one!)

New this time, a sweet and beginner friendly Country Mouse kit. After hearing that our local heritage craft destination Cotswold Woollen Weavers was closing after 44 fabulous years, I wanted to create a special kit using their beautiful wool tweed fabrics.

A beautiful, sunny spring day yesterday; and a lovely workshop at Heritage and Rural Skills Centre NT in Coleshill, Oxfordshire. Thank you to all the students for making it such a warm and engaging session! We did so much, I was impressed with how many skills you used during the day 🥰

If you have finished your mouse, please do pop a photo in the comments below. We would absolutely love to see all the little characters.

If you couldn’t make this class, I will be running it again in June, at a different venue - May I Design in Meg’s new studio. I’ll pop a link in the comments for you to book there.

Spring sunshine, so thoughts turn to new beginnings in the garden! I made some tiny seed packets for my garden mouse class coming up on 18th April at NT Heritage and Skills Centre, Coleshill 🌱

There are only a handful of places left for this one…so hurry if you want to book in!
