🚗 Year 2 have been developing their maths skills by exploring turns using maps and mini cars! Working together, the children used quarter turns, half turns and three-quarter turns to navigate their way to different local landmarks.

This fun, hands-on activity helped the children build their understanding of turns and direction while making meaningful cross-curricular links with our history and geography learning. A fantastic way to bring maths to life! 📍✨

Today, our Year 2 children welcomed visitors from Bonanza Creative for an engaging and interactive workshop all about carbon monoxide safety.
The children learned what carbon monoxide is, why it can be dangerous, and how simple safety measures, such as having carbon monoxide alarms in our homes, can help keep us safe. They listened brilliantly, asked fantastic questions, and took part enthusiastically in all the activities.
A huge thank you to Bonanza Creative for helping our children learn these important life-saving safety messages in such a fun and memorable way. .creative

**A Visit from Dr D! 🩺👨‍⚕️**

On Friday, Diamond Class had a very special visitor, **Dr D**, who came to tell us all about his job in medicine and what he does as a doctor.

We loved learning about the important work he does to help people stay healthy. Dr D showed us inside his doctor’s bag and explained the different equipment he uses. We even had the chance to see how some of the equipment works and learned what it is used for.

The children were full of curiosity and asked some fantastic questions. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about a real-life profession and discover how doctors care for their patients.

The visit inspired many of us, and some children even said they would like to become doctors when they grow up!

A huge thank you to Dr D for taking the time to visit Diamond Class and share his knowledge and experiences with us. We had a fantastic time learning from him! 🌟🩺✨

🔬🧪 Science Week in Year 2! 🧪🔬
This week, our young scientists have been investigating an important question: Which material would make the best hankie?
We tested six different materials:
📰 Newspaper
🧻 Tissue
📄 Greaseproof paper
🎨 Crepe paper
🧵 Fabric
☁️ Cotton wool
To make our test fair, we used a syringe to place exactly the same amount of water onto each material. We carefully observed what happened and discussed which material absorbed the water best without falling apart.
There were some surprising results! Some materials became soggy very quickly, while others hardly absorbed any water at all.
After examining our findings, the victorious material was... 🏆 greaseproof paper🏆
The children worked brilliantly as scientists, making predictions, carrying out a fair test, and recording their observations. We are so proud of their curiosity and enthusiasm during Science Week!
Well done, Year 2! 🌟
