Two weeks, three cities, and more incredible art than we could possibly fit into one post! 🏛️

From standing beneath the domes of St Mark’s Basilica and exploring the 2026 Biennale, to climbing Florence’s Duomo, cooking supper together 🍝, walking through the Colosseum, and standing in front of Michelangelo’s Pietà, every day somehow became our “favourite”.

Some of our best moments came between the masterpieces too: filling sketchbooks 📝, evening Italian lessons, and long dinners spent reflecting on the times we’d experienced together.

Thank you to our wonderful students for making this such an excellent course - we miss you so much already! 💛

From Pompeii to Monreale Cathedral, the Southern summer course was a dream! We snorkelled with submerged ruins in Baia, peered into the crater of Vesuvius and watched a traditional Sicilian puppet show in Palermo. What more could you want?

We won’t soon forget what we saw and experienced on this trip, from the Riace Bronzes to the maiolica and frescoes in Santa Chiara. We will miss our regular pasta all norma and granita, but will be living vicariously through the students on the Northern course! ☀️🍋🏛️

Last week, we spent a brilliant morning at the National Gallery. Director Nick Ross and tutors Flo, Celia, and Izzy were joined by 12 students who decided that a Thursday morning during half term was best spent looking at great art. 🔎

Students came from a range of schools across the UK and brought with them varying levels of experience with art history. Together, we explored some of the National Gallery’s most celebrated works alongside a selection of lesser-known gems, with a coffee break in the middle, of course, to chat and get to know one another. ☕️

Our event was informal, free, and a wonderful opportunity to share our love of art. We’d be delighted to welcome even more students to future events, so keep your eyes peeled for announcements of the next one. 📣
