Earlier today, children at The Beacon were presented with a banner by the Rector of Holy Trinity, Revd Steve Jones. Mr Paul Stock from the Diocese of Exeter and Revd. Heidi Budden joined the children in their Collective Worship as they explored the images and talked with each other about what they'd like to find out. The banner will go up in our playground where the children can all see and enjoy it. Thanks to Ian at for producing the banner for us.

As part of their history learning, yr1/2 recently visited Exmouth museum and heritage centre. The children learnt what it was like to live in the past by looking at the interesting artefacts and dressing up. Our favourite activities were playing in the Victorian classroom, seeing how many people could fit in the old tin bath and role playing being a train ticket inspector.

Last half term yrs 2/3 & 4 were thrilled to be able to perform their annual pantomime 'Snow White and the seven Jockeys' a retelling of the famous fairytale re-written by Roald Dahl at the wonderful Blackmore Theatre. The children did amazingly, reducing the audience to both tears of laughter, and those of pride as they watched the children put their hearts and souls into the performance, remembering dozens of songs and dances.

Last half term yr1/2 completed the DT unit Chop, Slice, Mash. For their final lesson the children worked in groups to make a Rainbow Veggie Salad. The children demonstrated super safe cutting, grating and slicing skills. They enjoyed their final dishes and for some this was the first time trying some of the vegetables.

Devon County Show’s Devon Music Education Hub.
So very proud to take three different performance groups to the County Show again this year. Our Y6 class performed a piece from their music lessons on a range of brass and woodwind instruments; orchestra performed a number of pieces and some of our children swapped instruments mid-way through because they love playing multiple instruments! Our Choir demonstrated their dynamic range, harmonies and ability to really carefully follow Mr Johnson’s conducting when he changes the tempo or key - Mr Johnson likes choosing difficult songs and the children rise to the challenge! Proud to be one of Devon’s Lead Music Schools. A huge thank you to Mr Johnson, Devon Lead Music Teacher.

Thank you to Devon Music Education Hub for a super day! You did an amazing job fitting us all in after the traffic chaos of the morning. Such a wonderful opportunity for our children to both perform and enjoy other schools’ performances.
