A small question, a BIG discussion!

As we settle into the autumn term and for some of us, our new rooms, we have been learning more about one another and what makes us unique! A simple question prompted a big discussion at carpet time this week, looking at just our hands we spoke about our similarities and differences before, determining whether it was possible to know who’s who looking at our hands only?

Check back soon for some more photos of what we've been getting up to!

We are so lucky here at Scribblez to have such an amazing outside space and we just love to take our learning outdoors at every opportunity.πŸŒ³β˜€οΈ This summer has been no exception. Transferring, pouring, scooping, experimenting, mark making, balancing, the list goes on! It can all be seen happening in the Scribblez garden!

Graduation 2022 πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“

It's that time of year when we have to say goodbye to those Wise Owls who are embarking on their next adventure: Primary school! Although we are always sad to see them leave, we are so very proud of everything that they have achieved during their time at Scribblez! We will miss you lots and wish you all the best at your new schools!

Let us introduce you to.....Reggie! 🐾

Reggie is a very friendly mini dachshund and has been coming to Scribblez since he was 10 months old. We all love seeing him at Scribblez and sometimes can hear his rather loud bark! Most of the time however, you'll find him by Annie's side or catching up on his beauty sleep!

It was Reggie's Birthday recently! A very happy doggy turned 3 years old and was pleased for a day at home where he enjoyed a family BBQ and then later a paddle in the river, something he loves to do!

Let us introduce you to....Our Wise Owls! 🌳

Those children at Scribblez nearing their third birthday will be introduced to the wonderful pre-school rooms. Having already been introduced to the Pre-school teachers they will have already began developing those all important relationships with them. We are always so excited welcoming new children up to the Wise Owls rooms, finding that due to our approach here at Scribblez, the children settle in quickly and are eager to get busy.

The children continue developing their independence and confidence in a calm organised environment. They are free to choose activities from easily accessible shelves, engage in one-to-one presentations with a teacher, participate in individual activities or learn with their peers in small group interests. The children in this room are introduced to the full Montessori curriculum involving, practical life, sensorial, numeracy, literacy and cultural exercises. Our Wise Owls enjoy art and craft as a medium to reinforce new learning. We encourage and foster respect for others through positive role models and child initiated ground rules.

The children in our Wise Owl rooms are prepared for their next steps at school and beyond. They become independent young learners and leave our Montessori setting to go onto school as well rounded individuals with a passion for learning.

If you would like to hear more about our Wise Owls room, please call 01392 278674 or email us at [email protected]

We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Let us introduce you to...The Hedgehogs πŸ¦”

In our Hedgehog room we invite loads more fun and learning with the children as we encourage them to expand their independence, language, and develop numerous new skills! Independence, concentration and motor skills for example, are all fostered through a range of Montessori practical life exercises which our Hedgehogs thoroughly enjoy!

The rooms are prepared daily to follow the children's interests and our Hedgehogs enjoy participating in a range of activities to include messy play, art and craft activities, puzzles, singing, dancing and role play. The children have access to some fantastic outside provision where they will enjoy climbing, balancing, riding and stretching their imagination far and wide. Anyone for a game of kings and queens in our castle or a pirate adventure in our sunken boat?

In this room the children further develop their fine motor skills and they start being more independent in feeding themselves, pouring their own drink and putting on their coats and shoes. This may also be the room where your child starts potty training and they and you will have the full support and advice from the caring Hedgehog staff who rest assure have tons of experience to draw upon!

If you would like to hear more about our Hedgehogs room, please call 01392 278674 or email us at [email protected]

We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Let us introduce you to....The Fox Cubs 🦊

Our Fox Cub rooms are beautiful, homely and cater for babies from 3 months old! Here at Scribblez, we follow the Montessori philosophy from birth and our baby rooms offer plenty of heuristic play, treasure baskets, early Montessori activities, singing, dancing and stories! The children can move between each of the Fox Cub rooms giving them the freedom to explore.

Our Fox Cubs spend time exploring a range of sensory, practical life and role play activities as well as have free access to an outside area off their room, enabling them to have plenty of fresh air and engage in some outdoor learning as well.

The staff in our baby room, many of which are long serving members of the Scribblez team, are experienced and dedicated in providing the continuity of care young children require. We aim to give the babies in our care, love and affection, allowing them to build strong bonds with the practitioners who look after them. When we welcome new children to this room, parents are invited first to attend a few part sessions to familiarise their child to the environment and the Fox Cub staff. During these sessions, staff will discuss with parents their child's routine at home and we will follow this routine here at nursery to help your little one settle. As the children near their 2nd birthday, we start the transition to the next room slowly and by providing little visits for play and snack, ensuring all the children have the support they need.

To enquire about our Fox Cub room please call 01392 278674 or email us at [email protected]

We look forward to welcoming you soon!

A child's knowledge on and involvement in their own oral health can impact on the rest of their life. Early education, in a classroom setting, is vital which is why oral health was added to the Safeguarding and Welfare section of the revised EYFS Framework last year.

Our topic before our current π˜”π˜ͺ𝘯π˜ͺ𝘣𝘦𝘒𝘴𝘡 one was π˜–π˜³π˜’π˜ 𝘏𝘦𝘒𝘭𝘡𝘩 which the children absolutely loved. In fact, they ended up remembering more facts about teeth than the adults. We are pretty sure there is nothing they can't tell us about our teeth! ☺️

During the topic, we did various activities like making 'happy teeth' and 'sad teeth' to prompt discussion about what foods are good or bad for our teeth. We looked in detail at what a good teeth brushing routine looks like and the children also made a lovely, big classroom display showing the different teeth we have and their names.

The children also got to put their fine motor skills into practise when they made little tooth fairies which they had to sew around. We also read many books about teeth.

Have a look at the pictures and please continue the talk and good practise of oral health and hygiene at home. πŸ‘

The children have so far loved our topic this term - Minibeasts.

We are currently making some minibeast booklets for which the children have enjoyed decorating different minibeasts. Have a look at the photos of the sorts of bugs and insects you can expect to find in their booklets. You'll see the bumble bees, ladybirds, spiders and snails soaking up the sun in Annie's garden, appreciating their natural habitats! 🌞

As part of this topic we have also been out in our front garden on a minibeast hunt, watched some interesting video clips on the lifecycle of a ladybird and used various toys, nursery equipment and natural resources from our garden to recreate our own minibeasts.

Have a look at the photos to see how imaginative and creative the children became. Can you guess the minibeasts they created?

Who's excited for this long Jubilee weekend? We are! 😍

We have been busy making decorations and adding bunting to our rooms in preparation for the celebrations.

You will see in the photos - the children have made a wreath for the front gate, flags for their rooms, decorations for the windows and some fabulous crowns which will be worn during our lunchtime Jubilee feasts in a minute! 😊 They are all very excited.

Please share your pictures on this page of your Jubilee goings on this weekend. We'd love to see your street parties or what you've been doing to celebrate.

Enjoy your long weekends! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§β˜€οΈ

𝑾𝒆'𝒓𝒆 𝑢𝒖𝒕!

At last! We are finally out in our new and improved back garden, just in time for the Summer. 🌞 We are so lucky to have such a big space outside but it has needed some TLC for a long time and the wait is finally over. Over the past few weeks, the children have enjoyed exploring the equipment in the new garden.

The new things you will find are: a gorgeous storytelling corner with benches and a great big storytelling throne for the children and adults. We are getting into a lovely routine of reading a story at the end of each play session which the children love. They remind the adults every day to take a book out to the garden with them. β˜ΊοΈπŸ“š

Our storytelling corner does have many uses however. When not being used as a quiet place for the children to relax, it can be used as a maze or even balance beams for the children to walk across the top which is great for their gross motor skills, balance and coordination.

You will also find a new wooden bridge, wooden balance stumps, a giant sandpit, a large decked area which has been great fun for our parachute PE sessions and the thing we think our parents will be most pleased about... We have replaced that bark with wet pour rubber! No more emptying pockets after a day at nursery or finding endless amounts of bark in your washing machines - hurrah! πŸ˜‚

In addition to all of this, our lovely wooden castle and slide remains and so does our little wooden train which has had a little makeover. We have also added some new outdoor games and activities for the children to enjoy.

So, our garden is looking a lot more colourful and inviting and most importantly - has become a fun and exciting new space for the children and we're loving it!
