Roads minister abandoned young driver safety plans after taking power 04/02/2025

How can Lilian Greenwood sleep at night? In less than 8 months she has gone from, "Yes I support this (whilst I do not have the ability to implement it.)" to, "(Now I have the power) Talk to the hand!"
Whilst our government are obsessing over the lack of money in the coffers and how much everything will cost, they neglect the foresight to realise that preventing serious and fatal RTCs will save hundreds if not thousands of times more than the cost of implementation. With current figures from Statista.com, each fatal collision costs us £2.1m and serious injury collisions £246k each, let's look at the potential savings. There are approximately 16 times more serious injury collisions than fatal so with 4959 KSIs involving a younger driver, that gives us close to £3.5b less of a drain on our economy - PER YEAR!
And that doesn't even look at the emotional aspect. These are peoples loved ones.
With no leadership from Westminster, it is up to us once again, to encourage our loved ones to keep each other safe. If you have younger drivers in your family, please encourage them to understand The Honest Truth before it is too late.

If you are interested in the future of the theory test and have an Oculus headset, check this out.

RAC Foundation - Virtual Reality Hazard Perception Training and Testing About this project Virtual Reality promises much in terms of immersion and the evocation of more naturalistic behaviour, but we do not have clear evidence of the benefits in terms of driving-safety interventions.
