Christow Primary School Celebrates Outstanding Fundraising Success at Colour Run Event
Christow Primary School is celebrating the outstanding success of its recent Colour Run event, which brought together pupils, staff, families and members of the local community for a vibrant day of fun and fundraising.
The exciting event, organised by the school’s pupil-led school council with support from the PTFA, raised an impressive £3,770.20, with additional contributions still expected through Gift Aid.
A Colour Run is a non-competitive event where participants walk, jog or run around a course while being showered with brightly coloured powder along the route. Designed to focus on participation, enjoyment and inclusivity, the event concluded with a celebratory colour throw, creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.
Demonstrating their compassion and community spirit, members of the school council chose to donate £1,000 of the funds raised to Little Valley Animal Shelter to support its ongoing work caring for vulnerable animals in need.
The remaining funds will support the PTFA in providing enriching opportunities, activities and experiences for pupils across the school. Christow Primary School would like to thank everyone who took part, donated and supported the event.
Ms Amy Yeo, Headteacher at Christow Primary School said:
“We are incredibly proud of our pupils for organising such a joyful and successful event. The colour run truly captured the spirit of our school community, bringing everyone together while raising an amazing amount for both the school and a cause close to the children’s hearts. It was a fantastic example of teamwork, creativity and compassion in action.”
Matthew Shanks, CEO of Education South West said:
“This is a wonderful achievement by Christow Primary School. Events like this show the power of pupil leadership and community collaboration, while also supporting valuable local charities such as Little Valley Animal Shelter. The enthusiasm and generosity shown by everyone involved is truly inspiring.”

Amy Yeo, the headteacher at Christow Primary School has been awarded Bronze Winner status in the The Award for Headteacher of the Year in a Primary School category of the Pearson Awards.
The awards, founded in 1998 by Lord Puttnam, celebrate excellence in education and highlight the vital role teachers and schools play in shaping future generations.
Under Amy’s leadership, Christow Primary School has achieved exceptional academic success while maintaining a strong focus on inclusion, wellbeing and community. The school was recently ranked as the fourth best primary school in the country by The Telegraph, reflecting its consistently high standards and outstanding outcomes.
In 2025, 100 percent of pupils achieved the expected standard in reading, writing and maths at Key Stage 2, with a high proportion reaching greater depth. Ofsted has also recognised the school’s success, noting that “pupils achieve exceptionally well” as a result of a highly ambitious curriculum.
Beyond academic results, the school has built a culture rooted in respect, inclusion and strong relationships. Feedback from parents, pupils and staff highlights a thriving and supportive environment, with one parent describing the school as a place that “goes above and beyond” and another noting that their children are “very happy and flourishing across the board.”

Colour Run 2026
As the sun shone down on Christow, it was absolutely incredible to watch our amazing children push themselves as they ran/walked around the TVCH as many times as they could for charity. Cheered on by supportive family and community members, the laps kept rolling and many children racked up impressive distances of 6/7km plus! The ultimate aim for the event was to have fun and we are sure you will agree that this was certainly the case! The smiles and laughter will be remembered for years to come.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to so many people for their help throughout the Colour Run, from those that supported the event organisation and set up, through to volunteers on the day. Too many people to name but you know who you are! Once again, the event showcased just how mighty our small community is when it comes to putting on an event. The fundraising total currently exceeds £2200 and we look forward to sharing news of the final total soon. Huge, huge thanks to you all but mostly to your children for being simply brilliant!

On Tuesday afternoon, the Year 5 and 6 football team played an exciting match against a nearby primary school. Both teams began the game with lots of energy and determination. The first half was very competitive, with strong defending from both sides. Our team created a few good chances, but the opposition defended well and their goalkeeper made some great saves. Our goalkeeper was also kept busy and made an excellent power shot, travelling the length of the pitch! Because of the strong defending from both teams, the score remained 0–0 at half-time.
In the second half, the game became even more exciting. The opposition scored first after a quick attack and a well-placed shot into the net. However, we responded soon after and scored an equalising goal. Both teams continued to push for a win, but the match finished 1–1. Overall, it was a fair result and both teams showed great teamwork and effort.
