"The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child's own natural desire to learn." — Maria Montessori

Last night, we went out for a meal to celebrate everything we have achieved together at Adventurers over the last 18 months. Looking back, it’s amazing to think that we’ve grown from a team of four to a team of fifteen. We are so proud of what we have built together and the care, dedication, and enthusiasm our team brings every single day.

We spent the evening laughing, sharing memories, and celebrating one another. One of our favourite moments was reading through the lovely comments from our parents. Your kind words really do mean the world to us and remind us why we love what we do.

We also had some fun with our team awards, which were voted for by the team. Awards included Above and Beyond, Confidence Builder, Curiosity Creator, Dream Team, Outdoor Learner, and Magic Moment Maker. It was wonderful to recognise the little things that make each person so special.

A huge thank you to our amazing team and to all of our families for your continued support. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you ❤️

Teamwork is the cornerstone of the Curiosity Approach because it fosters a collaborative environment where educators can share ideas, reflect on their practices, and co-create learning experiences that spark children's curiosity and exploration.

Emmi Pikler, a pioneer in early childhood education, emphasized the importance of creating a nurturing and respectful environment for children to thrive. This aligns perfectly with the Curiosity Approach, where teamwork ensures that educators are constantly learning from each other and working together to provide the best possible experiences for the children.

When everyone works together, there's a wider range of perspectives and skills to draw from, leading to richer and more innovative learning environments that truly support children's development. It's all about creating a space where both children and educators can explore, learn, and grow together.

Our surroundings impact all of us in ways we don’t even think of. Children especially are affected and moulded by what they see, hear and feel around them. I have explored the environment in our pedagogy by ensuring that all of our rooms upstairs have at least one of each of our 3 Prime Areas of the EYFS framework. The EYFS framework is vital because it sets mandatory standards for the learning and development of children from birth to the age of 5 ensuring they are healthy, safe and ready for school. The 3 prime areas are:

Personal Social Emotional Development
Communication & Language
Physical Development
Here is how each room upstairs showcases each of these areas:

The Corner~ A reading area allowing them to sit down and have some calm time whilst reading a book (C&L, PSED). A threading station giving them the chance to focus and improve their fine motor skills (PD, PSED). Dress up (PSED). Shop and home role play improving collaboration (C&L, PSED)

The Site~ Mark making station (C&L, PD). Mirror alphabet to help letter recognition (C&L). Cutting and sticking station improving fine motor skills ( PD). Dress up and builder role play (PSED, C&L). Sand play like scooping, digging, filling and emptying falls under gross motor skills (PD)

The Lab~ Potion making like squeezing bottles, emptying and filling helps fine and gross motor skills (PD). Our world station showing them the awes of the world (PSED, C&L). Paint bags to do mark making (PD). Letters, numbers and shapes station (C&L).

The Studio~ Singing songs and learning new words supporting communication skills(C&L). Dancing and playing instruments support gross motor skills (PD). Music is a way of self expression and building confidence (PSED). Collaborative work by making music together and turn taking (PSED, C&L). Large piano involves bigger strides or jumping and involves numbers improving mathematics (PD, C&L). Dress up (PSED)

The Library~ Resource room so they get the choice as to what they want to play with (PSED, C&L). Reading area for calm time (PSED, C&L). Threading and crafts station to improve fine and gross motor skills (PD). Sensory bottles help develop gross motor skills when they shake them (PD). I love me station (PSED, C&L)
