🌿Hypnobirthing equips you with the knowledge to give fully informed consent for any decisions that you make during your pregnancy & birth- leaving the power rightly in your hands.

🌿By equipping you with empowering questions you can make sure you have gathered all of the information that you need to make the decisions that are best for you and your baby, freely and without coercion.

🌿Through discussing your options, you can communicate your wishes clearly with your birthing team, and withdraw your consent at any time.

🌿Communication should be an essential element of any antenatal education, but unfortunately it is often over-looked.

At Eden Birthing we spend time looking at:
🌿Understanding how your mind and body communicate and the effect of this
🌿Fully including birth partners in all of the sessions so that you can communicate as a wonderful team and they can be the best advocate and support
🌿Tools to aid communication with your care provider, including how to use the BRAIN acronym + powerful questions.

🌿If our bodies are running on fear, we become tense & fuelled by adrenaline which reduces the oxygen flow to our body parts that are key for labour & birth, causing an increase in pain & distress.

🌿Hypnobirthing breaks into the fear/tension/pain cycle, empowering the mind & body to relax, and often leading to a much more manageable & comfortable birthing experience.

🌿Comfortable in your incredible body
🌿Comfortable in your mind
🌿Comfortable with your environment
🌿Comfortable with your birthing team

🌿So many people approach birth with an all-consuming fear, and the idea of being calm feels so far off any reality.

🌿Hypnobirthing aims to realign the subconscious and conscious mind with positive & realistic expectations and knowledge around birth, removing fear from the equation and instead replacing it with calm.

🌿When your mind is calm, your body can and will work more effectively and efficiently.

🌿What is 'biomechanics'?

Charlene & Emily are both trained by OptimalBirth- a program built by midwife Molly O'Brien. A combination of simple positions and exercises in pregnancy, alongside supported simple manoeuvres in labour, biomechanics is proven to overcome problems of mechanical obstructions in labour.

It's about promoting optimal baby position and effective body preparation by viewing the body as a whole, and acknowledging the intertwined relationship between the body's fascia, baby's positioning and labour & birth experience.

Eden Birthing courses spend time looking at biomechanics, including key exercises and troubleshooting in pregnancy and labour.

A new study has found that “Hypnobirthing is associated with a significant reduction in the use of epidural analgesia, greater use of water immersion, and decreased odds of caesarean section.” (Lee et al 2026.)

The researchers write that, “There is strong demand from birthing women for safe and effective strategies for support during labour and birth.”

“Hypnosis is a potentially side effect free self-administered pain management strategy however few studies have explored the association between women’s use of HypnoBirthing and analgesia utilisation and mode of birth.” (Lee et al 2026).

This study looked at the experiences and outcomes of 1322 pairs of women in Australia.

Half used hypnobirthing, and half did not.

The results were positive, though the authors also discuss the limitations that are inevitable when carrying out this kind of research.

“The findings of our study suggest that the use of HypnoBirthing during labour was associated with statistically significantly reductions in the use of epidural analgesia and increased utilisation of water immersion and likelihood of achieving an unassisted vaginal birth.” (Lee et al 2026).

“We conclude that the use of HypnoBirthing can further support women who aim to avoid pharmacological analgesia and related interventions. Maternity services should explore ways to provide women with increased access to HypnoBirthing training.” (Lee et al 2026).
