I began playing the guitar at the age of 14 (which was a few years ago!) after talking my parents into buying me an electric guitar as an Xmas gift. I remember like it was yesterday, the beautiful red Stratocaster in a local music shop, that I walked past going to and from school each day. The owner must have been very patient as I went in probably every other day to ask if I could plug it in and play, well, nothing yet. So, eventually, I actually owned it! My parents arranged some lessons with a friend of theirs and I was hooked. I spent a lot of time with my new guitar and within a year or so, had formed a band with some school friends and went out playing local venues. It was a fun time as none of us were old enough to drive so we had to rely on others ( patient parents usually!) to drive us around, as ‘roadies’. We were out ‘gigging’ at 15/16 and it was brilliant! Since those early days, I have played in various bands of various genres, spent time recording with some pretty cool artists, and taught guitar at various stages. I currently play with a function band Vanity and an original grunge-rock band Losing Victory. Fame and fortune have eluded me so far, but ya never know!
