As we approach our end of academic year pleas to return missing library books from under the bed and other hiding places, we also wanted to shout about our new selection of books donated by The Bookery.

This follows the success of our World Book Day and National Literary Festival celebrations earlier this year as we continue to - what will you be reading this summer?

Our Young Changemakers programme comes to an end for another year, with our young ambassadors going out into the world armed with real-world ready advice and ideas from Hospiscare.

"Just to say thank you so much for all you have done to support Hospiscare for another year. Your pupils were a brilliant group of young people, full of enthusiasm and ideas, and I'm sure many of them will continue to be great ambassadors for Hospiscare in the future." - Laura, Public Fundraising Manager.

🌊🏊‍♀️ What a night!

Eighteen Exeter School pupils took on an incredible overnight Channel Challenge at Topsham Pool on Friday evening, swimming the equivalent of the English Channel (33.9km) in relay teams between 8pm and 8am.

Through determination, teamwork and plenty of encouragement, all three teams completed the challenge, with the fastest finishing in an impressive 10 hours 41 minutes.

The swimmers have already raised £1,240 for Hospiscare in Exeter, one of the School’s chosen charities.

A huge thank you to our lifeguards, staff and the team at Topsham Pool for making this inspiring event possible.

Our Lower Two pupils enjoyed a fantastic geography field trip around Exeter city centre this week. From exploring land use in Princesshay and Southernhay to discovering the history of the Blue Boy statue and visiting the Guildhall dungeon, it was a day full of learning, exploration and sunshine.

Congratulations to all the Fourth Form pupils who volunteered their lunch break yesterday to take part in a local litter collection 🗑️🚮

This real-world action was part of their Lower School Ichnos award where achievements are accumulated to help pupils transition into secondary with teamwork and community activities. These also help to instil and strengthen our virtues to endeavour, inspire, act with integrity and provide service to others.

Lower Sixth have had such a jam packed Futures Week with visiting speakers and activities galore.

Thanks to Judy Salmon for opening the week with talks on 'Making a positive impact' on Monday.
Tuesday brought a whole day of planning business projects as teams thanks to Mr Mackintosh, which saw pupils creating their enterprise display boards around an extremely friendly visiting local cat. Thanks also go to our alumni judges who gave up precious entrepreneurial time to guide pupils' ideas.
Wednesday saw a fun and action packed team building day with axe throwing and boules that would have had local clubs enthralled.
Thursday brought UCAS guidance and university research before our pupils headed out into the world of university open days today.

We hope that they found this week a welcome break from mock exams and that it set them up ready for their university visits today - how did it all go everyone?

It certainly was a Καλημέρα (good afternoon) on Tuesday when Mr Swan and his Sodexo team treated us to a Greek themed lunch. There was spiced sumac chicken with red onion, shredded lamb shoulder with lemon and oregano, honey baked Cypriot halloumi, steamed pitta bread, loukoumades (Greek doughnuts with sugar and spice) and melomakarona (spiced honey cookies with orange and cinnamon).

Σας ευχαριστώ to the whole team and we look forward to the next themed day to learn the tastes of other cultures!

Pond dipping, poetry and plenty of outdoor adventure! 🌿🔍✍️

Upper One enjoyed a fantastic day at Stover Country Park, combining hands-on scientific exploration with creative writing inspired by the natural world. From identifying pond creatures and exploring different habitats to composing and performing original poems in the outdoor classroom, pupils embraced every opportunity to learn, discover and create.

A wonderful day of integrated Science and English learning, leaving everyone tired but inspired.

Mrs Glanville, our pastoral assistant, is taking part in the Coast to Coast walking challenge across Devon - a non-stop, 24-hour trek from Westward Ho!, all the way to Paignton, over Dartmoor! As if this doesn't sound crazy enough, she will still be doing a full day's work beforehand on Friday 19 June 😮 So, her realistic goal is to manage at least 59 miles out of the 68 over 24 hours.

The aim of the walk is to raise vital funds for The Devon Clinic Paignton, a charity providing affordable counselling and mental health support for people who need help but can't always afford it.

Please donate, share, and be part of this journey for an important cause.

A fantastic weekend for Exeter School CCF at the Tri-Service Cadet Competition at Okehampton Camp. Competing against Army, RAF, Marine and Sea Cadets from across Devon, our two teams tackled demanding leadership, teamwork and problem-solving challenges in tough Dartmoor weather conditions.

We are incredibly proud that one of our teams finished as runners-up, missing out on first place by the narrowest of margins and bringing home a trophy. Most importantly, all our cadets demonstrated resilience, professionalism and outstanding enthusiasm throughout the weekend - ensuring they are real-world ready.

Congratulations to Alex, Anna, Charlie, Daniel, Dexter, Ella, Euan, Rufus, Iris, Gabriel, Rory, Malachy and Ridhwaan on a superb achievement!
