🎃 It’s back… and we couldn’t be more excited! 🍂

There is something so special about Halloween in the woods.

Crunching through fallen leaves, toasting marshmallows around the campfire, making broomsticks from natural materials and watching little imaginations run wild.

We’re delighted to announce that our Spooky Woodland Festival returns on Saturday 24th October, and tickets are now on sale!

Join us for a morning of family fun, including:

🍎 Apple bobbing
🧹 Broomstick crafting
🔥 Marshmallow toasting
📖 Spooky campfire stories
🎃 Halloween activities throughout the woodland
👻 Plenty of surprises along the way

Fancy dress is always encouraged, and we can’t wait to see all the witches, skeletons, pumpkins and woodland creatures arrive!

Our Halloween events have become a favourite for so many local families, and places fill every year.

🎟️ If you’d like to join us this October, we’d recommend booking early.

The best childhood memories are often the messiest ones…🍫💦🌿

A couple of weeks ago, our Wild Tots were busy mixing and cooking chocolate brownies, creating their very own pet log dogs, and splashing about with water to stay cool in the woodland sunshine.

There were wonderful imaginations and plenty of happy, chocolate covered hands and faces exactly the kind of playful learning we love to see.

Through simple outdoor adventures like these, little ones build confidence, practise new skills and enjoy precious time connecting with nature.

Which activity would your little explorer have chosen first, brownies, log dogs or water play? Tell us below! 👇

Some goodbyes are really just new beginnings. 💚

On our last day of term today, we sang goodbye to the children heading off on their next adventures. Watching them grow in confidence, curiosity and friendship has been such a privilege.

The woods will always hold a little part of their story, and we hope they carry a little of the woods with them wherever they go. 🌿

Join us in wishing our little explorers lots of luck for their next chapter. 💚

At A Touch of the Wild, our Forest School in Devon provides children with meaningful outdoor learning experiences that inspire confidence, resilience and a lifelong love of nature. One day, this song will remind them of the woods. 💚

Every Wild Tots & Kindergarten session ends with our favourite goodbye song, Bread and Butter, Marmalade and Jam. It’s more than just a way to finish the day, it’s a little tradition that becomes part of childhood.

Years from now, we hope these familiar words bring back memories of woodland adventures, muddy boots, campfire smoke and happy days spent together.

🌿 What songs take you straight back to your childhood?

💚 A little look back at one of our recent Wild Tots sessions…

Some of the best childhood memories aren’t planned. They’re discovered.

🫐 Wandering through the woods, carefully foraging for wild bilberries.

🥞 Mixing and cooking pancakes together over the fire before adding the berries we’d found ourselves.

🌸 Creating magical potions with flower petals and water, stirring, pouring and imagining.

These moments might seem simple, but they’re the ones children remember. The taste of warm pancakes cooked outdoors. Purple fingers from freshly picked bilberries. The excitement of finding treasures in the forest.

This is more than a toddler group.

It’s a childhood filled with wonder, connection and memories that last long after the muddy boots have been taken off. 💚🌿

✨ Save this post if you believe childhood should be filled with adventures like these, and share it with someone who’d love Wild Tots.

“Can you tell us how butterflies drink nectar?” 🦋

Without hesitation, one of our Wildlings was eager to share what he’d learnt with his friends around the fire.

Moments like these remind us that learning isn’t just about remembering facts. It’s about building the confidence to ask questions, share ideas and find your voice.

At Forest Kindergarten, children are given the time, space and encouragement to become curious, capable communicators.

Because the confidence they find today becomes the voice they use for life. 💚🌿

✨ If this is the kind of childhood you want for the next generation, save this post and share it with someone who’d love it too.

A little look back at our previous Wild Tots session…

What a fantastic morning we had in the woods, making the most of the sunshine while staying cool under the trees! ☀️🌳

Our little adventurers enjoyed:
🥞 Cooking delicious Welsh cakes over the fire
🐝 Creating pine cone bees on sticks to take home
💦 Cooling off with lots of water play, including plenty of giggles under our forest shower!
📚 Sharing stories together in the shade of the trees

It’s amazing how much joy can be found in simple moments outdoors, exploring, creating, playing and making memories together. 💚

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We can’t wait to see you for more woodland adventures!

Have you joined us at Wild Tots yet? We’d love to welcome you and your little explorer to a future session. 🌿

The songs they learn today become the memories they keep forever. 💚

Every song we sing has a purpose.

The Caterpillar Song isn’t just about learning the life cycle of a butterfly. It’s about building confidence, growing language, strengthening memory and creating joyful moments in nature.

Years from now, they may not remember every word… but they’ll remember how it felt to sing together, surrounded by trees, with friends by their side.

Those are the moments that shape childhood.

🎵 Turn the sound on and listen to the joy.

💚 Save this for the days when you need a reminder that childhood is made up of the little moments.

🍃 Share it with someone who believes childhood should be filled with wonder, nature and music.
