A Touch of the Wild provides exciting activities in the woods at Grammarcombe Woods, Ashcombe Estate, Near Exeter. Education groups – Offering a wide variety of sessions suitable for nursery to university age children & young people; we can design suitable sessions relating to themes and areas of the curriculum your group are working on in the classroom. Wildlings Forest Kindergarten-our Ofsted registered childcare provision for ages 2.5-5 years. Open 9-3pm during term time and run by qualified early years and forest school practitioners. Woodland Adventure Club – our exciting Holiday Club for 6+ year olds runs every school holidays (except Christmas and February half term). Your children and our expert outdoors staff discover new things in nature – playing and exploring the woods, enjoying the streams and wild places and learning cool woodland skills. Birthday parties – For age 4 and up, our tailor-made parties are the ideal way for your child and their friends to have an unforgettable birthday experience. As well as swinging in hammocks in our woodland playground, the children can roam the woods, build dens, learn how to light campfires safely, and even cook campfire treats. Team building – It’s a scientific fact that inside every office worker, beats the heart of a mighty jungle lord! At A Touch of the Wild, we set that jungle lord free with brilliant outdoor challenges to enhance self-confidence, communication, negotiation and leadership. Exciting events – We run public events throughout the year at Grammarcombe Woods, Ashcombe Estate, Near Exeter, such as Family Adventure Club, a monthly club for the whole family packed with fun and excitement in the woods, visit our events page to find out more. Yesterday we celebrated our wonderful Claire and a very special milestone birthday, the big 21 😉🎉

There was a woodland crown, birthday bunting, beautiful sunflowers and, of course, plenty of time spent in her favourite place: outdoors amongst the trees.

Claire brings so much warmth, creativity and care to A Touch of the Wild. 💚

🍂 October Half Term adventures are calling! 🌳🔥

Wondering what your children will be doing this half term?

From Monday 26th - Thursday 29th October, our Woodland Adventure Club is back for four brilliant days of outdoor fun in the woods! 🙌

Think muddy adventures, woodland games, den building, nature crafts, campfire fun, exploring, creating and plenty of fresh air. 🌿

It’s a chance for children to switch off from screens, get stuck into nature, build confidence, learn new skills and make new friends, all while having a LOT of fun.

October half term will be here before we know it, so now is a great time to get those holiday plans sorted.

The toddler group where getting muddy is kind of the point. 🌿

Wild Tots this week looked a little like this…

There’s something special about watching little ones learn through the things around them. Getting messy. Building. Making. Exploring. Sitting around a fire. Turning a pile of wood into an entire world.

No flashing toys. No perfectly clean clothes. Just childhood happening in the woods. 💚

We were straight back into the woods this week with a morning full of making, mixing, creating and exploring.

🍂 Wild Tots is back THIS MONDAY! 🍂

Autumn mornings in the woods are nearly here… muddy boots, crunchy leaves, woodland treasures and plenty of time to explore. 🌿✨

Our Wild Tots Autumn Term starts on Monday 7th September, with sessions running Monday–Friday, 10am–11.30am in our beautiful forest just outside Exeter.

Designed for little ones aged 0-5 and their grown-ups, Wild Tots is a relaxed morning of nature-based play, seasonal activities, forest crafts and outdoor adventures, with plenty of space for children to explore at their own pace.

It’s also a lovely way to meet other local parents while your little one plays, discovers and gets wonderfully immersed in nature. 🤎

A summer well spent looks a little like this… 🌿

Long days under the trees, hands busy making, creating and exploring, new friendships forming and plenty of adventures along the way. 💚

We’ve had such a fantastic summer at Woodland Adventure Club, watching children get stuck into everything from natural crafts and blackberry picking to den building, outdoor cooking, woodland games and creating their own weird and wonderful inventions.

There’s something so special about giving children the space to simply play, explore, create and be outdoors and seeing where their imaginations take them.

Thank you to every child who joined us for our summer adventures. We’ve loved having you in the woods. 🌳✨

That’s what Woodland Adventure Club is all about.

Giving children the freedom to follow their curiosity, try something new, build confidence and spend a whole day outdoors with other children, away from screens and with plenty of space for adventure.

Because sometimes the best summer holiday days are the simplest ones.

Childhood should sound like this. 🐸🎶🌿

Little voices singing in the woods, big imaginations and the freedom to simply be children. 💚

At Wildlings Forest Kindergarten in Devon, some of the most meaningful moments are the simplest ones.

A song about frogs might look like a bit of fun, but through singing, play, exploring nature and spending time outdoors, children are developing their confidence, communication, creativity and connection with the world around them.

Our Forest Kindergarten gives children the space to learn at their own pace, follow their curiosity and experience the kind of childhood filled with fresh air, adventure and wonder.

Because early years education doesn’t always need four walls.

Week one of Woodland Adventure Club was WILD! 🌿

From woodland teamwork and bubbling potions to team cooking and a magical butterfly encounter, our adventurers have been busy exploring, creating, experimenting and making new friends in the woods. 🦋🔥🧪

The best part? There are still spaces available over the coming weeks!

Our Woodland Adventure Club gives children the freedom to enjoy real outdoor adventures, build confidence and learn new skills, all while having heaps of fun in our beautiful Devon woodland.

🎃 It’s back… and we couldn’t be more excited! 🍂

There is something so special about Halloween in the woods.

Crunching through fallen leaves, toasting marshmallows around the campfire, making broomsticks from natural materials and watching little imaginations run wild.

We’re delighted to announce that our Spooky Woodland Festival returns on Saturday 24th October, and tickets are now on sale!

Join us for a morning of family fun, including:
