The National Education Union has been formed by the NUT and the ATL. This is the page of the Devon NUT section of the NEU prior to a full merger that will take place in 2019. We are part South West Region (Region 7) and the Regional Office is based in Exeter. Local Division Officers are also based across Devon. We provide support for members in schools and the NUT central support services.

This is so true ...the reality in a lot of schools. Bigger classes and less adults as a result of cuts. More needy pupils, a curriculum that is too often a straitjacket and constant pressure from management. This is why our schools are in crisis.

If you are an NEU member and you work in a state school then please make sure you vote in the indicative ballot for industrial action over pay and funding. Both teachers and support staff are being balloted. The Government not only wants to give us a pay rise below inflation, they also want to give no extra funding to schools which will mean huge cuts. And they want to remove the limit on teachers working hours.
If you haven't voted yet then vote today at https://neuactivate.com/login
And please speak to your colleagues and urgently them to vote as well!

The Far Right are once again coming to Exeter to bring hate and intimidation. When they have come before they have let off flares in the High Street and shouted abuse at passers by. Please join us in our peaceful protest against the far right and their hate and intimidation. Please share widely...

All Devon education unions have called this joint public meeting. We can't go on like this...and the government is proposing even more cuts with unfunded pay rises that will supposedly be paid for by 'efficiencies'...ie cuts.
Come to the meeting.
And if you are an NEU member vote in the current ballot over pay and funding ...go to www.neuactivate.com

Yesterday, I saw a video shared on social media in which the far-right thug Tommy Robinson was harassing a transgender educator.

Lets be clear: confronting the far right is a trade union issue. When our members are targeted for who they are, the National Education Union will always stand with them.

Today, I was proud to address a large, vibrant conference of LGBT+ educators - members who organise, who support one another, and who embody the very best of our union.

The threat we face from a growing and emboldened far right is unprecedented. But so too is our collective strength.

The solidarity in that room, the confidence, and the determination to defend inclusive education and each other, give me absolute confidence that hope will prevail.
