I am excited to share that after approximately 35 days, our Muscovy ducklings have finally arrived.
Can you see the empty shells they have hatched from?

Once a Muscovy mother duck goes "broody" and begins sitting full-time, it typically takes 33 to 37 days for the eggs to hatch. This is longer than most other duck breeds, which usually hatch in about 28 days.

Throughout this period, the mother occasionally leaves the nest briefly to eat, drink, and wash. She plucks her own down feathers to insulate the eggs while she is away.

I think it’s going to have to be duck week this week at Little Farmers 🐥

It’s "Vehicle Week" at Little Farmers! To kick things off, Farmer Kim completed the school run in our Kioti utility vehicle this morning to bring it on-site. After a slightly loud and bumpy ride to school, the vehicle remained at our session for the children to explore and sit in.

As always, we started our day at Farm School by feeding all the animals. Once our morning chores were finished, we moved on to plenty of vehicle-themed fun!

Ps every farm vehicle needs a unicorn hair brush on the dash 🫣

At this time of year, we are regularly moving our cattle from field to field to ensure they have fresh grass.

Even though they still had plenty to eat in their current location, the cattle were so eager to move today that they nearly took the gate post with them. I suppose for cattle, the grass really is always greener on the other side.

This week marks the start of our second five-week block of Little Farmers. Designed for children aged 18 months to 5 years, these sessions offer fun, hands-on animal interactions, messy play, and crafts in a welcoming environment that we have refined over the last five years.

Spaces are still available for this block, particularly on Thursdays. We would love to see as many of you as possible.
Please note that after this June/July session, Little Farmers will take a break for the summer and return for a final block before Winter in September/October.

Additionally, our Summer Holiday and Weekend Farm School pop-up sessions are now live on our website. These are a great option for older siblings.

We also host birthday parties at the farm! We offer several packages and handle all catering, organisation, and cleanup to ensure an stress-free experience for you.

Also keep an eye out for our special Halloween sessions and Tea with Santa sessions coming this Autumn/Winter.

See you soon 🤗

When this lamb was born, his mother was unable to provide enough milk for both him and his brother. To ensure he remained healthy and well-fed, we raised him on a bottle in our tame lamb pen, where he was affectionately named "Buck."

Two weeks later, a ewe unfortunately lost her lamb during birth. Since she was healthy and had a good milk supply, we followed our usual practice of attempting to have her adopt a tame lamb.

The adoption was a success. Please see the attached photo of Buck with his adoptive mother out in the sunshine, three months later.

Buck now nearly lifts his mother off her feet when drinking milk. The mother is weaning Buck off her milk now and he is eating more grass & creep (a high protein feed supplement)
