How can specialist schools and colleges better support young people with vision impairment?

In a recent episode of Focus In, Cameron is joined by Nic Smith, Deputy Head of InFocus College, to discuss the challenges vision-impaired learners can face, why specialist knowledge matters, and how the right support can help young people thrive.

From assistive technology to practical classroom adaptations, this episode is packed with insights for parents, carers and professionals.

πŸ“š This week, InFocus College Principal Catherine Scott Baker and Deputy Head Nic Smith attended the Natspec National Conference in Birmingham.

It was a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues from specialist colleges across the country, share ideas, learn about best practice and gain fresh insights to help us continue delivering high-quality education and support for our students.

Thank you to Natspec for bringing together professionals who are passionate about helping young people with learning difficulties and disabilities achieve their aspirations for learning, work and life.

πŸš‚βœ¨ A young person from the InFocus community is a huge train enthusiast and recently visited Exeter St Davids to see a visiting steam train.

Thanks to the kindness of the driver, he was invited to stand on the locomotive's footplate and get a closer look. πŸš‚

He said: "The cab was very hot and smelly and fiery, but it was awesome!" πŸ”₯😊❀️
