Nanny Bears

In baby room this week the children have been doing lots of painting in the garden using different 🖌️ and even their hands. The babies have been playing in the boxes 📦 pretending to be in a bus 🚌 and a train 🚆 they have been saying ‘beep beep’ and ‘choo chop’

In big room this week the children have been doing lots of role play, pretending to be dentists 🦷 and doctors 🩺. The children have loved dressing up in different outfits. We have been doing lots of play with natural materials like water, 💦 sand 🏝️and herbs 🌿

This week in baby room we have enjoyed exploring different animals through going on walks to the farm and exploring animal trays such as dinosaurs 🦕 and jungle animals 🦁 we have learnt new sounds such as “moo” and “roar” and also single words such as “duck” and “cow”. The babies have particularly enjoyed the dinosaurs 🦕 this week and stomping around to make lots of noise.

This week in the big room we have really enjoyed dressing up as our favourite super heroes 🦸 and using our super powers to help out our friends!
We have also loved exploring messy play, using our big muscles to make marks in the shaving foam 🧼
We have also enjoyed playing group games such as bug in a rug which has encouraged us to ask questions such as “what’s your favourite food?” 🥘 And “what’s your favourite toy?” To be able to figure out which friend was hiding 🙈

This week we have enjoyed bringing in stories 📚 to share with our friends during group time. We took it in turns to stand up at the front of the group and tell everyone what our book was about!

We’ve been practising our independence skills during meal times 🍽️, using our cutlery and the younger children transitioning to using open top cups. 🥛

We’ve also been looking at basic emotions such as happy, sad and angry. We even practised pulling faces that we could see in the pictures! 😠😊☹️

The last few weeks at the cottage the children have loved playing in the garden, splashing in the water trays and soaking up the sunshine! We have also enjoyed jumping in puddles and we also saw a rainbow!🌈

The big room children have had fun joining in with Spanish sessions with Carmen and her friend on Thursday afternoons!
Releasing our butterflies sparked a lot of curiosity about animals and their habitats, so to support the children’s learning we have been talking about all the different countries and environments animals come from.

This week in the big room we have loved using our ideas to create models like aeroplanes from duplo ✈️ we had been working on drawing different emotions, we did this by looking at mirrors and pulling funny faces🤪 we were able to draw happy and sad faces ✏️
We have been loving the rainy days splashing in muddy puddles and filling and tipping with the water 💦

This week in the baby room we have enjoyed many nature walks around the local area ☀️ we walked to see what bugs we could find, we found some wiggly worms 🪱
Cause and effect toys have been our favourite! We love pressing all the buttons on the toys to see what noises we can here and lights we can see🚦👂

This week in baby room we have enjoying playing with some bright green play dough. 🦖We used the animals to make foot prints in the play dough and copied some animal noises.🐯🐷🐾
We have also enjoyed lots of water play in the garden.💦🪣

In big room we have been thinking about sharing equally, we used the cake and pizza in the role play kitchen to share out the pieces between our friends. 🍕🎂
We also used our fine motor skills to paint ice cream with cotton buds. 🍦It was fun watching the colours mix to make new colours. We also used a three point grasp to hold the cotton buds with control. ✍️🎨

This week in the baby room we have loved exploring with paint and making lots of new marks 🎨 they have used there hands & feet to print marks on the paper. They have also really enjoyed stories & cuddles with the adults 📚 the babies have loved the touch and feel books as their favourites. We have all been playing with the small world animals and saying new sounds like baa and moo 🐮🐏 we have had some lovely sensory trays this week, one of them being ‘5 little men in a flying saucer’ in coloured glittery rice 👽

This week in Big room, we have had some lovely activities that we enjoyed exploring. We were comparing sizes and quantities 💦by having a play dough tuff tray and water tray in the garden. We used languages such as more and less when comparing the quantity. We have also continued to look through our family photos 🏠where we talked about the differences in different families. We also had a visitor in the garden—Mr Frog🐸 where we loved watching it hopping and swimming in the water!

This week at Cotley Farm we have loved being outside in the garden 🪴 🍃 The children find being outside very calming, it allows them to explore lots of different activities, whilst also enjoying the fresh air 😌🩵

Our toddler friends explored the balancing scales using blocks. 🧒🏼⚖️ During our conversations we used language such as “more” and “lots” as we added the bricks onto the scales! 🧱

Following on from our days outside, we also went for a bug hunt around the farm! 🐞🦟 The children enjoyed looking through their magnifying glasses, searching for different bugs on the leaves and on the ground. 🔍🍁 After this, we then looked at our bug fact book, learning about the different bugs we had found on our search! 📖

This week we have been practicing our fine motor skills using tweezers to pick out the sequins from the gloop and count how many we have got!
We have also enjoyed dancing with bubbles and ribbons 💃🕺🎗️🫧
This week we have also been doing lots of pretend play from being hairdressers 💇 to vets looking after the animals! 🐶🐱
Our school leavers have been talking about which schools they are going too and how they are feeling about going to school 🏫

Last week in the big room, we have enjoyed exploring dinosaurs to celebrate dinosaur day! 🦕 We used them to stomp on our paper, leaving marks behind using paint, and also crunched through a dinosaur swap. 🌴
We have also loved experimenting with mark making, using the white boards and pens to create a range of pictures, as well as to teach our friends numbers and amounts! 🖊️
Some of our friends have also loved playing with the baby dolls, making them picnics, changing their nappies and getting them dressed 👶🍼

This week in baby room, we have enjoyed celebrating the world of dinosaur day, making dinosaur feet marks with paint and exploring a variety of dinosaur themed trays, making sounds and learning new words. 🦕 We have also enjoyed playing in the garden, using our gross motor skills to climb the climbing frame and exploring the mud kitchen. 😊
