Learning Through Play! ✨

✨ Echoes Training Day 2026 ✨

On Friday we had the privilege of bringing our two nurseries together for our annual training day!

We had a slightly different focus this year, with teamwork front and centre! 🐛🦋

We don’t often get the opportunity to all be together to celebrate our amazing practitioners who embody our ethos every day. The room was full of fun and laughter as we solved the crime! 🕵️‍♀️

After lunch, we had a first aid refresher and a retro game of runaround, finishing off with our staff awards ceremony! ✨

Proud to lead our team and excited for everything 2026 will bring! 💚

🌟 Communication & Language Development at Echoes 🌟

Communication is the foundation for learning, confidence and friendships. At Echoes, we create a language-rich environment where every child’s voice is valued and encouraged. 💬✨

Throughout the day — in play, at mealtimes and during group time — children enjoy:
• Daily stories to build vocabulary and imagination
• Songs and rhymes to strengthen listening and memory
• Routines that support turn-taking and expressing ideas

We model clear speech, introduce new words through play, ask open-ended questions and encourage active listening.

By nurturing communication skills early, we help children grow into confident, expressive learners ready for their next steps. 🌈

We are recruiting for a Part-Time Kitchen Assistant! 💚

We’re looking for a kind, reliable person to become part of our nursery family at Echoes Childcare Winslade.

We are a warm, home-from-home children’s day nursery and the kitchen is at the heart of our setting. You’ll be helping prepare healthy meals and snacks and keeping our kitchen clean, safe and organised.

🕘 16 hours per week (51 weeks of the year)
📅 Tuesday & Fridays
➕ Extra hours required to cover staff holidays

No nursery experience needed — we’re much more interested in someone caring, dependable and happy to muck in as part of a team. Full support and food hygiene training can be provided.

We offer:

• Holiday pay & pension (if eligible)

🌟 Routines & Independence 🌟

EYFS: Personal, Social & Emotional Development & Physical Development!

At Echoes, we know that daily routines are a big part of helping children feel safe, secure and confident! 💛

Every day, we support and encourage the children to develop independence from an early age, giving them the time and reassurance they need to try things for themselves. These small steps help build strong foundations for learning and life skills.

We regularly promote independence through everyday routines such as:
👕 Putting on their own coats.
👟 Practising doing up their own shoes and different clothing. 
🧼 Washing hands and following hygiene routines.
🪜 Walking up and down stairs safely and confidently.

These moments help children to develop:

✨ Self-confidence and a sense of achievement (PSED)
✨ Coordination, balance and fine motor skills (Physical Development)
✨ Resilience, pride and a “can do” attitude

We are always so proud of the children as they grow in confidence and begin to say… “I can do it!” 💪😊

This weekend, some of our team at Echoes gave up their free time to complete their Paediatric First Aid training — helping us maintain 100% of our staff team are first aid–trained! ✨

🦋 Settling In & Emotional Security 🦋

At Echoes, we understand that feeling safe and secure is the foundation for everything children learn and achieve! 🫶🏻

During the settling-in period, we take time to get to know each child as an individual, following their pace and responding to their needs. By building strong, trusting relationships with a dedicated key person, children gain the confidence to explore, play and form friendships.

Through consistent routines, familiar faces and lots of reassurance, we support children’s Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED), helping them feel valued, understood and secure from the very start.

Last week we were very excited to welcome some police officers to Broadclyst!

The children learnt all about the important job the police do, how they help keep us safe and who to go to if we are ever in danger.

The officers talked to the children about calling 999 in an emergency and showed them some of the equipment they use, including handcuffs and a radio. The children had lots of fun sitting in the police car and even turning on the blue lights! 🚨

The children also had the chance to have their fingerprints taken, which they found fascinating!

A big thank you to our local police officers for such a fun and educational visit! 💙👮‍♂️

✨🎄 It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Echoes! 🎄✨

Our rooms are sparkling, the crafts are magical and little smiles are everywhere!

We’re so excited for all the festive fun, cosy activities and joyful moments ahead! ❤️✨

🌟 We’re so proud of Rhiana! 🌟

Rhiana joined us after interviewing at just 15 years old and started her apprenticeship when she’d only just turned 16 — and now she’s officially a Level 3 Early Years Educator with a Distinction! 🎓✨

She’s our first ever 16-year-old apprentice to go all the way through her qualification journey with us, and we couldn’t be prouder. 💛

Rhiana has grown into such a caring, confident educator, and the children (and all of us!) absolutely adore her. 🌈

Huge congratulations, Rhiana — your hard work and dedication has truly paid off! 👏🎉
