Celebrating Earth Day π
Our preschoolers enjoyed a story about caring for our planet before exploring different animal habitats, including grasslands, snowy regions, water, and the Sahara desert.
They then created their own imaginative landscapes, choosing resources and confidently explaining their ideas. A lovely way to inspire creativity and care for the world around us.

Who can you see? π
Our Ladybirds have been exploring a tray with shredded paper, mirrors and pictures of themselves to help encourage self recognition.
The children were able to find their own picture and some would use the correct name of their friends.

Homemade Cress & Egg, Mayonnaise Sandwiches:
This morning, our Cubs harvested the cress they planted a couple of weeks ago to make egg, mayonnaise, and cress sandwiches. They practised their cutting and spreading skills as they prepared their food, building confidence and independence.
This activity forms part of our sustainability and action plan, helping children understand that they can grow and use their own ingredients. It also supports their learning about plant life cycles and where our food comes from, making these concepts hands-on and meaningful.

Bird Feeders π¦ββ¬
Our Preschoolers have been busy creating bird feeders to take home and hang up in their gardens.
Ghada encouraged the children to spread the lard with a knife, before rolling in the seeds. Throughout the activity the children spoke about how the lard felt, the shapes of the seeds and what birds they have seen when at home.

Planting π±
As part of our Devon Nurseries Sustainability Leadership & Climate Action Plan, we have been busy creating spaces for planting and growing at Tic Tocs.
We have built new planters which allow us to grow plants that help support bugs and insects, alongside our new bug hotel, and we are excited to welcome our first tiny visitors.
Across the rooms, the children spent a week exploring bugs and insects, seeds, plant life cycles, and gardening tools, helping to promote curiosity and an appreciation for all living things.
So far, we have planted strawberries, onions, cress, sunflowers, and beans across Tic Tocs.

Motherβs Day π
We recently invited our families in to join us for treats that we had been busy baking over the week.
Our Preschoolers had baked flower shortbread biscuits and rocky road. Cubs had made magic star cookies and chocolate brownie. Ladybirds made butterfly cupcakes and jam tarts. Mandy made some lemon drizzle slices, millionaires shortbread and more.
Thank you to all the parents who came to join us, it was lovely to have so many of you turn up.
