Our experienced tutors are all published authors and we keep our groups small (no more than 8 people) to ensure you get the chance to really focus on your work and improve your skills.

The Psychology of Writing

What's stopping you from writing? 🤔

This four-week course has been designed for anyone who is trying to write, but is finding the process hard. Carla Jenkins, author of Fifty Minutes (2024) and upcoming novel Touched (2027), is familiar with all the obstacles that can get in the way.

"I’ve worked a lot on overcoming these challenges and want to share with you how I did it. If I hadn’t, I doubt I’d have got a two-book deal with Hachette and become a published author!"

This course will help you overcome imposter syndrome and that critical inner voice. It will also stop you from comparing yourself to other writers.

Carla will get you to a place where all your brain space and energy goes into your writing, and you can even start to enjoy it!

This course will run in person at Exeter Phoenix on the following dates:

Tuesday 11, 18, 25 Aug and 1 Sept 17.30-19.00
OR
Saturday 15, 22, 29 Aug and 5 Sept 14.00-15.30
