A pretty special message for one of our young drummers…

Brian McGee - the original drummer of Simple Minds - sent a personal good luck message with one very important piece of advice:

Keep drumming.

Brian was there at the very beginning of Simple Minds, playing alongside Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill as the band began its journey in Glasgow.

And now, a young drummer has a little bit of that encouragement behind them.

This is what we mean when we talk about real industry connections.

Not just learning songs.
Not just playing instruments.
Not just being in a rehearsal room.

Connecting young people with the people, experiences and opportunities that make the music industry what it is.

From the classroom to the stage - and sometimes, a message from the people who helped shape the music before us.

Our first week back in Plymouth has been a brilliant one and we have to say, we are LOVE LOVE LOVING our new home at thedepostudios!

A proper studio and creative space right here in Plymouth, giving our students the opportunity to learn, rehearse, create, record and perform in an environment that feels like the real industry.

That’s what Cameron Mills Group is all about.

We don’t believe music education should just happen in a classroom. We believe young people should have access to real creative spaces, real experiences and real opportunities to make things happen.

Our Exeter students have Studio 54. Now, our Plymouth students have The Depo Studios.

It means our Plymouth programme can offer even more - from developing as a musician and playing in a band, to recording, creating and building the confidence to take their next step.

Music. Media. Drama. Delivered.

And this is only the beginning.

What a day!

We had a fantastic day at the Moor Football Fiesta today! The sun was shining, the atmosphere was brilliant, and we were so proud to see two of our junior performers take to the stage for their first ever live performance in public together!

Performing on the Balcony Stage, they absolutely smashed it!

A huge congratulations to you both - what an incredible first show. You should be so proud of yourselves!

And we’re not stopping there…

We’re continuing our brilliant partnership with Devon Air Ambulance at their cycling event, with live performances all day from our Songwriting, Band and DJing classes! 🎤
