Lights, camera, creation!

Our Young Broadcasters & Content Creators were hard at work tonight, stepping into the world of advertising and media production as they developed adverts for their very own products.

From scriptwriters crafting persuasive sales pitches, to voice actors bringing campaigns to life, and editors piecing everything together behind the scenes, every student had an important role to play in the production process.

This is exactly what CMG is all about — giving young people real-life creative industry experiences, developing practical skills, building confidence, and showing them how professional media content is created from concept to completion.

Who knew the next big advertising agency could be sitting right here in our studio?

We were delighted to welcome the Ottery Scouts to CMG recently for an action-packed evening of creative workshops!

The group got stuck into DJing, band workshops, and even had the chance to design their own logos and album covers. It was fantastic to see so much creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm on display throughout the day.

A huge well done to everyone who took part – you were absolutely brilliant and brought so much energy to every activity!

What a magical night at CMG!

We were joined by the incredible Patrick the therapy pony, who brought so much calm, joy, and curiosity into the room. The children absolutely loved having the chance to meet him, spend time with him, and experience something completely different as part of their creative journey.

It was one of those moments where everything just feels a bit special — smiles everywhere, confidence building, and a real sense of connection between the young people and Patrick.

Our podcasters also had the chance to sit down with Kirk and Hannah, who run the incredible CIC behind Patrick’s therapy work, and learn more about how and why this amazing work happens. A lovely chat, with Patrick there too, which will be shared on our socials soon as a video!

Having Patrick with us for the evening, meeting all the children across sessions, was genuinely beautiful to see. These are the experiences that stay with young people — calm, grounding, and unforgettable.

What a fantastic couple of days we’ve had at the Royal Cornwall Show with CMG! It’s been amazing to see our young people shine, perform, and grow through this incredible experience.

Sadly, today’s performances had to be canceled due to high winds—a real shame. But those who performed yesterday were just brilliant! We had such a blast, and it was such a valuable, real-world experience for them.

Huge thanks to the Cornwall Festival of Dance, and especially Jason Thomas, for having us. We can’t wait for the next time—bring on the next adventure!

What an incredible May Open Jam today!

Today was packed with creativity, collaboration, and learning from start to finish.

While the performances were, as always, a huge part of the day, we also explored something equally important – the business side of the music industry.
Some of our students took on front-of-house responsibilities, welcoming guests, selling tickets, helping people find their seats, and directing them to refreshments before the show. With support from our team, they gained valuable hands-on experience in what it takes to run a live event.

These are real-world skills that aren't often taught, yet they're essential for today's independent artists. Understanding how a show operates behind the scenes is just as important as what happens on stage, and we're passionate about equipping our young people with the confidence and knowledge to do both.

We also had some fantastic conversations about stepping outside our comfort zones. Students challenged themselves by performing songs they'd never played before, working with musicians they'd never collaborated with, and embracing the unknown. Often, that's where the greatest growth happens – and sometimes where the best performances are born.

A brilliant afternoon filled with music, learning, teamwork, creativity, and personal development. Every Open Jam reminds us that growth happens when young people are given the opportunity to take ownership, embrace challenges, and learn through real experiences.

This is the CMG way.

Half term for many young creatives… but at CMG it’s meant a fully booked week of rehearsals and a building full of noise.

This week we’ve had everything from a first-time drummer playing with his dad, to touring tribute bands, reggae bands, dancers working on choreography, young musicians rehearsing for their first gig, right through to full prog rock setups. It’s been brilliant to see so many different people sharing the same creative space.

One really special full circle moment this week was rehearsing with us ahead of their first gig next month. Seeing Isla in the studio with Cameron was a proud moment — she used to work on her singing with him back in primary school, and now she’s preparing for her first professional gig.

That’s what CMG is all about. Watching people grow, build confidence, and take the next step creatively.

Things are busy, the rooms are full, and the atmosphere has been unreal lately. We’re proud of the positive creative community being built here every single week.
