AFT is trying hard to redress the lack of accreditation for the rotary people who would like to change over to fixed wing for their commercial license. Although a number of emails have been sent to 22 group as yet it has not got things moving. A potential window has come up with the introduction of the CBIR. We are back on the case again so fingers crossed- watch this space…. FI course
£7700 plus hire of aircraft for test at solo rates, fee is up to individual examiners, however expect around £230-250. The course comprises 30 hours of which 5 hours are given either in the FNPT1 or FNPT2 simulator and the remaining 25 hours will be in a PA28 R Arrow and a Cessna 150 a Robin aircraft which will be used for the spinning sessions. Requirements: CPL or 200 hours flight time with 150 hours PIC, meet all CPL, ATPL knowledge requirements and have completed at least 30hours SEP of which 5 hours have to be conducted in the 6 months prior to the pre entry assessment flight. Due to the intense structure of the course it is strongly recommended that students thoroughly review some of their CPL study prior to starting the course. In addition there is a pre course assessment flight which must be completed prior to training. FI courses are offered throughout the year, generally taking 5-6 weeks of full time study to complete, weather depending. Ideally 2 students will train together to get the maximum learning effect out of the course but we often do a course for individual students which is also possible on a part time basis.
