My little โ€˜amiguitosโ€™ ๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿ‘ถwere introduced to lots of Halloween characters ๐Ÿง™โ€๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ‘ป๐Ÿง™โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฆ‡but they especially LOVED meeting โ€˜la brujaโ€™ ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™€๏ธ and helping her to fix her โ€˜escobaโ€™ ๐Ÿงนby creating a special magic potion! ๐Ÿช„๐ŸตโœจWe played lots of party games, listened to songs ๐ŸŽตabout โ€˜๐’ƒ๐’“๐’–๐’‹๐’‚๐’”๐Ÿง™โ€โ™€๏ธโ€™, โ€˜๐’‡๐’‚๐’๐’•๐’‚๐’”๐’Ž๐’‚๐’”โ€™๐Ÿ‘ป ๐’‚๐’๐’… โ€˜๐’„๐’‚๐’๐’‚๐’ƒ๐’‚๐’›๐’‚๐’”โ€™๐ŸŽƒ and we read a story about โ€˜un monstruo pequeรฑoโ€™๐Ÿ‘น. Some of the children even dressed up for the class in their favourite Halloween costumes.

This day is all about honouring and remembering loved ones who have passed. Families gather to visit cemeteries, bringing flowers and share memories in a meaningful celebration of life and legacy. ๐ŸŒบChrysanthemums are the flowers most associated with the holiday. These flowers symbolise honour and respect and are traditionally placed on graves of loved ones.โค๏ธ

๐Ÿ’€๐ŸŒˆ๐„๐ฅ ๐ƒรญ๐š ๐๐ž ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฌ ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ž๐ซ๐ญ๐จ๐ฌ, a similar celebration celebrated in Mexico with vibrant altars, sugar skulls, and colourful traditions.
๐ŸŽ‰In recent years, Halloween itself has become increasingly popular in Spain and is celebrated much like it is here! With the next day as a bank holiday, children get to stay up a bit later to go โ€œtruco o tratoโ€ (trick or treat) and enjoy all the fun and treats. ๐Ÿง›โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸงŸโ€โ™€๏ธ

Today Spain commemorates its ๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ, also known as ๐ƒรญ๐š ๐๐ž ๐ฅ๐š ๐‡๐ข๐ฌ๐ฉ๐š๐ง๐ข๐๐š๐ or Columbus day.

This day marks the moment in 1492 when Christopher Columbus first reached the Americas, a historic event that connected Spain with the wider world. Each year, Spain celebrates with grand festivities, including a military parade in Madrid and an aerial display by the Spanish Air Force, which paints the sky in the colours of the Spanish flag. ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธโœˆ๏ธ. ๐Ÿคด๐Ÿ‘ธThe King and Queen of Spain, along with other members of the Spanish royal family also play a prominent role in the National Day celebrations.
