HOT WEATHER REMINDER ☀️☀️

With warm weather set to continue this week, we would like to remind parents of a few things to help keep children comfortable in school.

Please ensure your child comes to school with:
A named sun hat 👒
Sun cream applied before school 🌞
A named refillable water bottle
PE kit can be worn all week!

Children in Oak are also welcome to bring in a small handheld fan if they wish.

We continue to make adaptions in school to help everyone stay cool, including quieter playtimes and spending time in Acorn classroom, which has air conditioning. Please keep an eye on the My Child At School App as there may be changes to the lunch menu due to the hot weather.

This is the final week of both Craft and Netball Club. Both clubs will still take place as planned but activities will be adapted to suit the hot weather and ensure children remain safe and comfortable.

Thanks you for your continued support.

Mental Health Awareness Week

This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week theme was ‘Action’, focusing on the practical steps we can take to support positive mental health and wellbeing. In school, we linked this important message to Article 24 of the UNCRC, which highlights every child’s right to the best possible physical and mental health.

As part of the week’s activities, we explored how sound and music can positively affect our emotions, bodies, and overall wellbeing. The children learnt about the science of sound, including sound waves and frequencies, and discovered how different sounds can create different feelings and emotions.

Mr Davies introduced the children to a variety of instruments and explained how each one produces sound in unique ways. The children reflected thoughtfully on how the sounds made them feel — calm, happy, relaxed, excited, or focused — and discussed why certain sounds can influence our emotions and mood.

We also linked this learning to our school’s ‘10 a Day’ wellbeing activities and our ongoing work around children’s rights and emotional wellbeing.

The experience connected strongly with Article 31 of the UNCRC, which reminds us that children have the right to rest, relaxation, and play. Through this calm and sensory experience, the children were encouraged to slow down, reflect, and enjoy moments of peace and mindfulness that support healthy minds and positive wellbeing.
