📚 A great day at the AQA Psychology Conference!

I attended the AQA Psychology conference on Tuesday where Rosie McGinley shared some really valuable insights into improving student performance in the A Level Psychology exams. The sessions explored key messages across all three papers and focused on practical strategies to help students reach the higher grade boundaries.

One theme that stood out strongly was the importance of application skills. Examiners highlighted that simply quoting from the stem of a question is not enough to access the top marks. Instead, students need to clearly apply their knowledge using the recommended strategy: Signpost, Engage, and Link – helping them show the examiner exactly how their knowledge connects to the scenario.

It was also fantastic to collaborate with psychology teachers and professionals from a range of schools and colleges, sharing best practice and discussing effective ways to support our students.

I offer A Level Psychology tutoring sessions online developing key skills (A01, A02 & A03) and key learning content covering all three A Level papers.

My sessions will start with a baseline assessment to assess the students current ability and subject knowledge. I will then tailor a plan according to their needs which will focus on their specific areas of development.

My sessions are aimed to increase students confidence, autonomy and their criticality. Success in psychology is all about being able to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a range of theories and studies, whilst applying key evaluative terminology and showing a strong line of argument.

Students will also receive resources that they will be able to use in their own time to further develop their understanding. Students progress will be closely tracked with regular assessments. Students will be encouraged to be reflective of their own performance through self assessment tasks.

With a PGCE and Masters in Education I can help your child flourish and succeed in their exams!
