My first Insights Live event in London yesterday was a day filled with connection, valuable input and fun. My energy means I tend to avoid network events, with lots of new people to engage with, but this was different. I was fascinated to see what Insights had to offer and when Krista asked if I was going how could I resist! It was great to hang out with my lovely colleagues from Agar Management Consultancy to top my motivator and to meet some new likeminded coaches and facilitators

I'm excited to start using the new that was launched at the event, a digital platform to keep your profile to hand and link it with others on your team to keep the learning alive. Essential for all to build .

This week I was privileged to deliver an afternoon of thought provoking workshopping with the Pre-degree department at the Arts University Plymouth

I was invited by Tim Dickinson and Steven Forsyth to introduce coaching techniques for tutors and lecturers to consider implementing to use with students.

The idea was not for the educators to become coaches but to use coaching techniques in conversations with students to encourage independence of thought.

As students progress from secondary school into a more self led style of learning at 6th form and pre-degree level it is apparent that the transition warranted an approach that nurtured their creativity and freedom of style.

Coaching conversations put the student in the driving seat and this builds trust, confidence and freedom of thought.

We used theories such as Jungian personality types to model how to adapt approaches based on each individual’s needs.

I crafted a simple ABC guide to coaching techniques that allowed ease of understanding of the core concepts of coaching and we finished the session by practicing having peer to peer coaching conversations and discussions around the dynamics of having similar conversations with students.

As usual I was so engrossed in the session I forgot to take any photos to document the day but was able to provide notes and handouts to enable attendees to continue their coaching practice in the new semester.

Thank you Tim and Steven for the opportunity and for showing me around your fabulous Palace Court at the Arts University Plymouth.

Rachel's 50th Fundraiser - Shiksha Rath Slum Academy 11/04/2025

Yesterday I visited the Shiksha Rath slum school that we are raising money for this year. The school supports kids living in a nearby slum and provides educational support, equipment and activities outside of school hours. We were welcomed with food, dancing and some of the children wanted to show us their homes. I was moved by their kindness and willingness to engage with us even though we were strangers (pictures to follow).

Every penny donated goes towards provided the children with a safe environment to learn and grow, many going on to college and some coming back to work at the school.

If you wish to donate please use the link below. Maybe instead of a Costa you send some money for pencils, school bags and even shoes and hot showers which are also provided by the school.
