Welcome back and a very warm welcome to our new families. With this lovely weather we have been enjoying lots of time outdoors. The children are showing a keen interest in bugs and the natural world. We have been looking for bugs, making bug hotels and planting lots of seeds. We are in the process of making our own kitchen garden and hope to share the fruits of our labour with you all soon. Today we finished the afternoon with a cooling treat and a viewing of the smeds and smoos. Enjoy the weekend everyone π

Last week we enjoyed all that lovely weather by spending lots of time outdoors. We've been lucky enough to have a swing, trampoline, rope ladder and hammock to add to our outdoor space. One more week to go and I'm sure everyone will enjoy a rest!

This week the children have been celebrating British Science Week by taking part in experiments - float or sink, solid to liquid (smoothie), colour mixing and making rockets! We have also been exploring nature by learning what makes a good habitat for a pet snail, visiting the community garden to look for insects and we even had a visitor in to tell us all about birds! On Friday we made a start on making our own farm following the children's interests. Think everyone will sleep well this weekend!

Last week the children celebrated World Book day by dressing up and/or bringing in their favourite book. This led to some of the children building sheep pens and we borrowed a sheep from school to shear, Heidi showed us how! We also spent time in the park, painting large scale pictures and creating obstacles courses - this helps us develop our larger muscles so we can get 'ready to write'. We also had two new wheelbarrows delivered which we had to build and use to fill our new raised beds - all of which have been purchased by recent grant money.
