What a weekend for Team Belong at the Jubilee Challenge as part of the Ten Tors 2026!
From setting up camp and spending the night on Dartmoor with 2400 other young people, to the unforgettable 5 a.m. wake-up call with Chariots of Fire echoing across the campsite, our students showed resilience, teamwork, humour and determination every step of the way.
The early start, sore feet, changing temperature and long distance were all worth it as students pushed themselves out of their comfort zones and achieved something they should be incredibly proud of. Watching them support one another with such positivity truly reflected the spirit of Belong School.
A huge thank you to the Dartmoor Preservation Association for their grant towards walking boots, 4 season sleeping bags and waterproofs, helping ensure our students were fully prepared for both the training and the challenge itself.
Well done to every student who took part, and thank you to all staff involved in the preparation, training and support throughout the event. Experiences like this help build confidence, independence and memories that will last a lifetime.
Excitingly, two of our students are already talking about taking on the Granite Challenge next year adding even more distance and an additional supervised overnight camp on the wilder parts of the moors!
We are incredibly proud of you all 👏🥾⛺

Meet Brandon – Our New Trauma Informed School Practitioner! 🌟
We’re excited to congratulate Brandon as he becomes our new Belong School Devon Trauma Informed School Practitioner having completed the qualification with distinction.
As a Trauma Informed School, we recognise that many young people carry experiences—past or present—that can shape how they learn, behave, and feel day to day. Our role is to understand those experiences with compassion, not judgement, and to provide the support each student needs to feel safe, connected, and ready to thrive.
Brandon will be working closely with students, families, and staff to help young people make sense of their experiences, build resilience, and develop the confidence to move forward. His work strengthens our commitment to creating a school environment where every student feels seen, heard, and valued.

At Belong School Devon, our LOtC provision this term has definitely kept us on our toes!
After a long stretch of torrential rain and flooding that forced us to pause our visits to Shallowford Farm it’s been great to get back and into a regular routine again. Students have been making the most of it getting up close with the piglets, taking part in forest school activities and engaging in a range of other experiences that the farm offers.
Skylark Adventure days have also had to adapt to the weather, with a run of indoor climbing sessions while conditions were at their worst. Now, we’re back out on the moors where we belong exploring the environment, building confidence, and enjoying the space around us.
We also held an off-timetable day to support parent consultations, which proved to be a real success. While parents met with teachers online, students took part in a wide range of activities including iBounce, ten pin bowling, swimming, a Plymouth adventure, arts and crafts, a D&D day, and a visit to Killerton House.
Learning outside the classroom is a vital part of what we do. For our students it provides meaningful opportunities to develop self-regulation, resilience, communication, and trust. Through our TIS approach, these real-life experiences help students feel safe, build relationships, and re-engage with learning in a way that works for them.
A brilliant example of adaptability, perseverance, and learning that goes far beyond the classroom.
📌 Residential Paperwork Reminder
A gentle reminder to all parents/carers that outstanding residential paperwork needs to be returned as soon as possible.
Please ensure completed forms are sent back in with your child and handed to their Learning Coach or directly to Natalie.
Prompt return of paperwork is essential so we can finalise planning, confirm activity arrangements, and ensure all medical and dietary needs are properly supported.
If you have any questions or are unsure what is still outstanding, please contact Nat.
Thank you for your support.
We’re getting excited for our upcoming residential! 🌄✨
Over the next couple of days, forms will be sent out to parents and carers with key information about the visit. These will include details about our behaviour expectations while on residential. As always at Belong School, expectations have been carefully shared with students by their Learning Coaches in a child-centred, trauma-informed and supportive way, so everyone understands what a safe, positive and successful trip looks like.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll also be sending out additional requests for important information, including dietary requirements and any medication needs. It’s essential that these forms are completed and returned promptly so we can plan effectively and ensure every student is fully supported.
If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact Nat or Cal.
We can’t wait for what promises to be a fantastic experience for our students! 🌟
