In a showroom, a fingerprint on the glass or a scuffed floor isn't a small thing. It's inventory looking cheaper than it is.

That's the standard we're held to at Mercedes-Benz of Exeter, one of the busiest retailers we work with, where every surface from the showroom floor to reception is part of the sales experience. They've told us they now enjoy an almost "worry-free" relationship with us, exactly what a busy retailer needs when housekeeping has to hold up under pressure, every day, with no room for problems to build up.

What does "a commercial clean" actually include?

It's one of the most common gaps we see when a business switches cleaning providers: what was quietly included in the last contract was never written down, until it stopped happening.

A properly scoped commercial clean should cover, in writing: daily touchpoint cleaning such as door handles, light switches and shared equipment, a clear schedule for washrooms and kitchens, regular deep clean cycles for floors and communal areas, not just a quick tidy up, and a documented process for anything logged as a problem.

If your current contract doesn't spell these out, you're not buying a service, you're buying a hope. Ask your provider for the written scope. If they can't produce one easily, that's worth knowing before something gets missed.

Missed sweat and moisture in a gym isn't a cosmetic problem. It's a member retention issue, and a duty of care one.

Changing rooms, mats and shared equipment need a different standard of clean to a typical office: more surfaces touched skin-to-skin, higher humidity and far less member tolerance for anything less than spotless.

At Archway, our gym and leisure contracts are built around that reality, not a generic office schedule with “gym” added to the label. That means the right products for matting and equipment, a cleaning frequency that matches actual footfall and a trained team who knows what a member will notice before they do.

We work in cleaning, so naturally we thought we'd ask the really important question…
You spot a mess.

💙What are you reaching for FIRST?
1. The trusty cloth
One good cloth can apparently clean approximately 94% of civilisation.
2. Kitchen roll
Use it. Wipe it. Bin it. Job done. No damp cloth lurking by the sink.
3. Cleaning wipes
Open packet. Wipe everything in sight. Feel immediately productive.
4. Spray. Lots of spray.
If you haven't sprayed enough product to make the room smell clean from the NEXT room… have you even cleaned?
5. Whatever is closest
Tea towel? Old T-shirt? Sock?

💙We said no judgement, but actually… please don't say sock.
