β˜€οΈπŸŒ» Summer Holidays Are Almost Here! πŸŒ»β˜€οΈ

As another fantastic year comes to an end, we'd like to thank all of our wonderful children and families for your continued support throughout the year. We have loved watching the children grow, learn and make so many special memories.

πŸ“… Little Nick Nursery will close for the Summer on Friday 17th July and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 7th September.

We hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing and fun-filled Summer! If you're looking for ways to keep little ones entertained without spending lots of money, here are some great FREE local activities to enjoy:

🌳 Visit Nonsuch Park – perfect for nature walks, bug hunting, den building and picnics.
πŸ¦† Feed the ducks at Bourne Hall Park (remember to take suitable duck food, such as oats or peas, rather than bread).
πŸ“š Join the Summer Reading Challenge at your local library – a brilliant way to keep children reading throughout the holidays.
🚲 Go on a family bike or scooter ride around your local parks.
🎨 Create nature art by collecting leaves, sticks and flowers to make pictures at home.
πŸ› Explore different local playgrounds and let your child discover somewhere new.
πŸ’¦ Have a water play day in the garden using buckets, cups, sponges and toy animals.
🧺 Pack a picnic and enjoy lunch outdoors with family or friends.
πŸ” Go on a colour or shape hunt while out on a walk.
πŸ“– Build a cosy reading den at home and enjoy sharing your favourite stories together.

Remember, children learn best through play, exploration and spending quality time with the people they love. The little moments often create the biggest memories. ❀️

From all of us at Little Nick Nursery, we wish you a safe, happy and enjoyable Summer. Thank you for being such an amazing part of our nursery family, and we can't wait to hear all about your adventures when we see you again on Monday 7th September.

β˜€οΈ Happy Summer everyone! β˜€οΈπŸ’™

It's going to be another hot week!

β˜€οΈ Keeping Cool During the Heatwave! πŸ’¦πŸŒ³

The safety and wellbeing of our children is always our top priority, especially during periods of hot weather.

At Little Nick Nursery and Preschool, we've been making lots of changes to help keep everyone as cool, comfortable and safe as possible, including:

πŸ’§ Regular water breaks throughout the day
🧴 Sun cream applied in line with our nursery procedures
πŸ‘’ Named sun hats worn whenever we're outside
🌳 Extra shade added to our garden
πŸ’¦ Lots of fun water play and sensory activities
πŸͺŸ Windows opened early each morning before the temperature rises
🌞 Blinds closed during the hottest part of the day to reduce heat inside
🌬️ Additional fans positioned throughout the nursery
🧸 Adapting our daily routine with quieter indoor activities during the hottest hours
🌑️ Monitoring room temperatures and children's wellbeing throughout the day

We continue to assess the weather daily and adapt our plans to ensure we provide the safest possible environment for all of our children.

A huge thank you to all of our families for supporting us by providing named water bottles, sun hats, lightweight clothing and applying sun cream before nursery. Your support makes a real difference.

Stay cool, stay hydrated and enjoy the sunshine safely! β˜€οΈπŸ’™

Today the children and babies enjoyed a lovely morning of hands-on learning through play.

The children explored early maths by looking at different shapes, colours and sizes. They had the opportunity to match shapes, recognise circles, squares, rectangles and triangles, and count how many they could find. This supported their problem-solving skills, hand-eye coordination, early counting and confidence with shape recognition.

The children also explored animals and habitats through a small-world activity. They talked about where different animals live, such as on a farm, in the sea, in woodland areas or in the grass. This helped them begin to understand that animals need food, water, shelter and space to live.

Our babies also had a wonderful time exploring the toys in the play area. They enjoyed reaching, touching, moving and investigating the different resources, including the baskets of toys, musical instruments, activity toys, cars and the road mat. These experiences supported their sensory development, fine motor skills, curiosity and early imaginative play.

It was lovely to see all the children exploring, matching, counting, playing and using their imagination while developing their understanding of the world around them.

A wonderful morning of learning, discovery and play! πŸŒΏπŸ„πŸ”ΊπŸŸ‘πŸš—πŸ§Έ
